GLP-1 Users' Fragrance Obsession
Has anyone who has been taking GLP-1 found that they have had a stronger interest in fragrances? I guess my deeper interest in perfumery grew when I started taking the drug. Your thoughts? From the article: For some GLP-1 users, a positive effect is a growing interest in gourmand fragrances. According to NielsenIQ, perfume sales are up 23% as people seek ‘sensory inputs’ they no longer get from food. Similarly, Mintel reported a 24% increase in gourmand scents. Trendalytics reported a 266% increase in social engagement for gourmand perfumes compared to last year. An Appellation article states, “One theory suggests that when sugar cravings fade, the brain may seek out scent-based ‘pleasure signals’ as a substitute. In this way, indulgent-smelling products might offer a non-caloric form of comfort or reward.” https://www.happi.com/exclusives/glp-1s-unintended-side-effects-will-fuel-new-beauty-products/

@Jon Jacobs Same here. I have actually started to read books on organic chemisty. What is funny is my mother explored organic chemistry as it relates to perfumery in college. Something I never knew until I started talking about it with her.

@Steve Louis That's cool. I didn't know you could do a page like that. I'll check it out.

Yup. We have been there. You are standing there empty-handed staring at the tracking update that ghosted you harder than a bad Tinder date.

@Tim Nicklis That's awesome! My mailbox is on another block. So, yes, it's a long walk. Or, the package in the mailbox is for somebody else in your household. 😆
Collecting overdose
I started off with a couple that let to a very large amount of fragrances for me, almost 40 full bottles plus A-ton of decants and discovery sets. The question here is which scents deserve a spot in the collection which one deserves a smaller bottle like 50ml or 30ml, which ones are good for 10ml, 5ml, 2ml decants and which should you skip all together. So where to start, There’s a base if it’s not full bottle worthy then it’s not worthy as a decant at all as I believe in this statement it’s not a fact it’s just a good base, again it’s just a base. Where I believe the smaller bottles 50ml 30ml is better then the 100ml is when you need less sprays and or your collection is big enough that you can’t wear as often so this way if in the future you no longer enjoy the same scent then you can finish the bottle faster (ex: I have a xerjoff Tony iommi monkey special 50ml as 2 sprays is all I need so if I grow out of it or don’t like it then I didn’t waste the same amount) where the 10ml and 5ml are great is where you enjoy the scent but it’s redundant in your collection and you would have better options like for example Versace Dylan blue there’s a lot better blue fragrances out there so owning a full bottle will get wasted, in this case 5-10ml will do if you still want it. Where the smaller decants come into place is actually testing in different scenarios or just experimenting, experiencing a certain scent profile. for that 1-3ml there’s no way around. agree disagree what’s your take on collecting and what size is your go to?

@Antonio Cent I saw your video on https://rescented.com/. That's a cool business idea to get some cash back on ones you aren't using.

In the music hobby, we have a phrase called "Gear Acquisition Syndrome" or G.A.S. Would this be F.A.S. — Fragrance Acquisition Syndrome? 😁 Decant Dependency?
SOTD: Vintage Suede
Hey guys Joe A here with today's scent of the day, Day 271: Vintage Suede by Cremo. Fragrantica lists Vintage Suede as a 2022 unisex Oriental Fougere, built around suede, amber, and moss. If you like clean suede-style scents with a warm amber base and a bit of mossy depth, this one sounds like an easy daily reach. First sniff, like budget taste with good manners. I see Cremo all the time at my grocery store. I guess I should look into it. Thanks.

Going with Montagne Palisade on a warmer day in the office. A representation of Mind Games Blockade that smells great. It’s not overly sweet to me but the green mango is prominent. Definitely getting the suede and amber. So far the performance is average but I think that’s pretty close to the OG.

Since the performance is average, do you decant a little to take with you?
