New to carnivore from cape town south africa
Hi everyone. My name is Nazeema and I'm so new with this. I'm only starting on Monday when I get paid to buy my meats etc over this week. My daughter is getting married next year so that's my goal. I am 58y old muslim and going to make the most delicious meals I know. It's going to look good with nothing but pink Himalayan salt some pure grind pepper and garlic. I don't really know so much about it, I don't know how I'm going to survive as I love cake but I'm going to give it my all. Hoping for some help here thanks everyone Naz

Hi @Nazeema Samodien I'm also from South Africa 🥳. I am in Pretoria though. I am not Muslim, however, I also avoid certain meats such as pork. I can highly recommend ReVive on takealot for electrolytes. I have tried the Prime Day ones too (because they have additional vitamins such as Vitamin D; Vitamin B 1, 3, 6, 12; and Zinc) but they don't taste as nice as the ones from ReVive. The electrolytes give you an extra boost especially as you start detoxing or when you go through "Keto Flu" and feel tempted to quit. I also highly recommend Celtic Salt for extra minerals. I buy the course ones ans put it it my grinder. There is a company here in Pretoria called Fatworks Animal Products (you can find them on Facebook) that sells Beef Tallow, Lamb Tallow, Wagyu Tallow

I am not sure if they are Halal certified, but I have found that they are very responsive if you message them on Facebook. Tallow gives such a delicious flavour to your meat, its almost umami. Ghee works well too if you fry your meat on the stove, otherwise a braai is always lekker. Good luck as you start your carnivore journey!! 🥳
Family get together
So this past weekend my family did a lake trip which usually has lots of junk snack food, beer etc. This was the case along with some beautiful pies 😳 but…. I did good y’all I didnt cheat. I stuck to carnivore all the way thru. I made sure I had plenty of beef jerky and cheese as my snacks and then eggs or meat for my meals. Drank water or club soda. While everyone ate pie I got up and cleaned the kitchen. They were all stuffed and I felt amazing . 💪🏻

Congrats!! Preparing ahead seems to be key for family outings.
Weight Loss stagnant!
Hey guys! Haven’t posted in a while but still full on Carnivore! Starting my 6th week and have not lost any since Week 4! I feel better in so many ways so I am not freaking out too much! Just excited to lose a good bit to be able to be active longer and keep up with my 16 year old son!!!

Those plateaus can be very disheartening, especially if you see the scale stay the same for 2 weeks. I totally agree with Terrel, body measurements helps a lot, as well as how you feel mentally and physically.

@Teresa Blakley this is super helpful as every time I have hit a plateau I cut fat. Definitely gonna give this a try.
Some Food Inspiration
I have started adding green garden peas to my meals for a bit of fiber as they don't affect my stomach. The little waffles are made with fresh mozzarella and whole eggs. Perfect bun alternative for when the family is having burgers, or as a bread alternative for fried eggs. Meats I keep in my deep freeze for convenience: Chicken wings Lamb chops Lamb stew meat Beef chuck steak 28 Day matured rump steak Ground beef Beef picanha steaks Beef bone marrow (broth Chicken feet (broth) To keep myself accountable, I send my sister a photo of my meals every day. Doing this also helps me keep track of what I have eaten and how it affects my body.

I also cook them in the airfryer with maldon salt and black pepper. 200°C for 15min, toss and then another 15min or longer until the skin is crispy. They are my "takeout" meal when my husband orders pizza or fast food.
Birthday
Sorry I’ve been quiet, I’ve been really busy the past week or so and I see so many new members and loving all your stories. It was my birthday yesterday, I was good all day, ate bacon and eggs and for dinner a heap of prawns/shrimp with only salt. My family had bought mini muffins and ice cream, I had 2 mini muffins and ice cream. I stopped halfway through because I just wasn’t enjoying it at all, it was disgustingly sweet and today I’ve woken up with a red and itchy face and I feel terrible, almost like a hangover. It’s just not worth it to me anymore to eat anything other than carnivore. I have included cooked onion in a dish twice last week as I wanted to see if my body cook handle it and I was fine. I don’t want to make a habit of using onions but just needed a different flavour with my broth and steak.

I have also tried adding certain vegetables back into my diet (have tried onion, carrots, celery, cabbage, and brusselsprouts) unfortunately, when I added those veggies back my stomach became so upset. I went straight back to strict carnivore the next day. The same thing happened when I added other spices to my broth too, so I know and sympathize with your need for a different flavour in your broth. Try fresh herbs in your broth. So far they haven't affected my stomach in any way. With regards to the ice cream and muffins, I'm so sorry that they affected your face so severely. At least you can use that as motivation to stay away from them next time.
