How are you feeling today?
Did you know not everyone gets asked this question, especially moms like us? So I try to check in with each of you by asking this simple question: How do you feel today? You might have seen my DM, text, or email asking you the same thing. 🥰 That’s because: - I care. - I see you. - You deserve to be asked. 💕 So, how do you feel today? I’d love to know - whether you’re feeling good or bad. Drop a GIF that best describes how you feel if words feel hard. Here’s mine. I had to use 2 GIFs for how I feel today.👇 I feel I’m asking big necessary questions to my Inner Self because I’m constantly upgrading my operating identity. So I can in turn support others better. And today, my ADHD brain is lost in thoughts 🧠, and I’m feeling A LOT of feelings in the process. ❤️ My brain and heart are trying to re-calibrate together.

Did Having Kids Make Your ADHD Worse?
First, have you had a chance to check out the "T" series videos in our THRIVE Framework Course inside our Classroom tab? It's about the science of ADHD, simplified and updated. So, even if you know about ADHD already, there's still more to learn. The "T" series videos are designed to fast-track your learning. 🥰It's only 1.5 hours to binge-watch or watch it in bite-sized clips. Here's the direct link again: https://www.skool.com/adhdlifesimplified/classroom/114027f0?md=c9a051615ecb489a839218092946a133 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inside, there's a Quick Win Activity. I invite you to reflect on this with me: 👉 WHICH SEASON OF YOUR LIFE DID YOUR ADHD GET WORSE? Some examples are shown in the screenshot below. For me, it was right after I graduated from college... When I landed my first “big” job managing over 200 people. Even though I had been juggling two jobs since I was 16 to pay for school... Nothing prepared me for the executive load of being "the boss." Suddenly, my ADHD brain couldn’t keep up. The demands on my executive function felt endless, and my coping mechanisms before weren't working anymore. I cried almost every night, not understanding why I was struggling so much. I felt hopeless. I went into deep depression. That’s when I saw a psychiatrist… And got diagnosed with ADHD (and depression as my comorbidity). I’ve managed it since then—but the next season that hit me even harder? Motherhood. 😖 This is a vulnerable topic, but I feel it's essential to share our stories... My ADHD symptoms became unmanageable again when I had kids. Pregnancy hormones. No meds while pregnant or breastfeeding. Postpartum dips. And—my son? He only slept two hours at a time until he was two years old. (Yes, you read that right.😢) Trying to “keep it together” as a working mom with sleep deprivation, hormonal rollercoasters, and a growing mental load pushed my ADHD into catastrophe!

Having kids definitely magnified my inability to organize my time. My DNA shows I’m wired for procrastination and low dopamine/serotonin, so executive function was already tough. Add three kids, a mother‑in‑law with dementia, and undiagnosed hypothyroid, it was survival mode. Looking back, that blur was maybe ADD and thyroid issues (and likely depression) all colliding. I am wondering based on a lot of your descriptions like your childhood and relationships, that maybe I have some form of ADD, potentially.
🚨Gentle Reminder: This Starts Tomorrow All Week
Parenting is harder than anyone prepared us for. 💞 Not just the sleepless nights. I'm talking about the emotional weight: - When your child has big feelings and you don't know how to help them through it - The constant worry that you're not doing enough (or doing too much) - Feeling emotionally drained by bedtime, with nothing left for yourself - Wanting to break generational patterns but not knowing where to start - The isolation of carrying all this alone This is really, really hard. And it's okay to recognize that. It's okay to say it out loud. That's exactly why I wanted to tell you about the Raising Emotionally Healthy Families Summit that our dear member, @Emily Hamblin, has curated and organized for us, neurodivergent families! It's a FREE online summit happening starting this Monday, October 27–31st. 🎊 Join me and 25+ incredible experts as we share practical tools and honest conversations about: 💞 Managing big emotions 💞 Navigating tough behaviors 💞 Building resilience 💞 Nurturing your whole family — including you! This is the kind of support I wish I had earlier in my parenting journey. 👉 Sign up for your FREE spot here — and let’s do this together.

One of my mentors always says. If you love ❤️ your child, you make the best teacher. That's what they need to know is that you love them. Everything else is figuroutable.

ADHD is generally understood in schools here, but the process for getting a formal diagnosis can be quite slow. In our case, it took until Grade 8 before testing was finally done. Once diagnosed, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) was put in place, and additional teaching resources were provided to support learning needs. Beyond the educational system, I’ve found it essential to look at ADHD through a broader health lens. Brain function is deeply connected to overall health, especially gut health. For instance, food sensitivities and gut issues can play a significant role. When the gut lining is compromised—often referred to as 'leaky gut'—it can affect the brain’s ability to regulate neurotransmitters like dopamine, GABA, and serotonin. Since the gut produces the majority of these neurotransmitters, dysfunction in this area can directly impact mood, focus, and emotional regulation. I’ve also been exploring the role of genetics in ADHD and related conditions. Some individuals have genetic variations that affect detoxification pathways, meaning they may need additional support to clear environmental toxins. But here’s the key insight: while our DNA provides the blueprint, it’s our environment—nutrition, stress, sleep, exposure to toxins—that can 'pull the trigger' and influence how those genes express. This epigenetic perspective is powerful when considering personalized approaches to managing ADHD. I am from just outside of Toronto, Ontario
