Have you had a chance to play (as a PC) in a proactive game?
Other than Tristan and Jonah, have the rest of us gotten to play in a game with a GM following these proactive principles? I have not and I wonder if that is one of the challenges I am facing, that I don't understand the subtlely of how some of these principles feel or should feel in practice. I don't have first hand experience with which things a GM does enhances or supports proactivity and which errode it.

Sorry for the slow response! Yes! I am running a proactive game with 7 players! Been doing it for more almost a year. It is amazing, it saves a lot of time of preparations as a DM and players connect better with their characters! You have to try and run the game in order to fully understand how it works. (And bombarded Tristan and Jonah with a millions questions too)
Proactive little Weasel.
Hola Masters! A friend of mine just came back from Spain with a little something for me: a spanish version of the Core Rulebook of “Root, the roleplaying game”. You choose among rabbits, squirrels, opposums etc and you get in the middle of a forest fighting factions of cats and eagles. I loved the concept! Do any of you know if the proactive mode is easy to apply on this game? Do any of you masters know and plays Root in a proactive way? Looking forward to read you all! Saludos Masters!

Come workshop your game with us!
Hey GMs, this SUNDAY evening at 7 pm (Eastern) Tristan and I will be running a live workshop event. We'll choose 2-3 interested members to hop on a call with us and tell us about their game/players/system and we'll talk through how to: - Make it proactive, if it isn't already - Refine the goals at the table to make proactive design easier - Come up with some fun encounter ideas based on the table's goals We'll be streaming that call live in Skool, so come by and watch if you're interested. We'll also be posting the recording later, so you can catch it if you can't join us live. If you're interested in talking about your game with us, just comment below and we'll DM you about it. If we have too much interest, we'll draw names to decide which games to discuss.

Players aren't as gung ho about the Goal Treadmill as I am
I read the GMing book, and the concepts it taught me made me run games better! I enjoyed creating goal-oriented villains and liked how it coincided with Matt Coville's other videos that touched the topic. However, it seems that my players aren't as interested in maintaining and updating their goals after creation. Has anyone else found alternate ways of having players maintain their Short/Mid/Long term goals that doesn't require constant upkeep? Could be an alternate version of it, or something else

Your question is something I have been thinking about a lot recently!

@Tristan Fishel As Bart Simpson said once: “Whoah! Slow down Frenchy, this stuff is gold!”
New Game Master's Book Next Week!
While Jonah and I are proud authors of the Game Master's Handbook Series, we're occasionally also asked to contribute to our great cousin Game Master's Book series (the big hardcovers that the incomparable Jeff Ashworth originated). Next week, the Game Master's Book of Legendary Locations releases! We try not to plug too much business into the lab, but this one is such a big collaboration with tons of extremely talented people, we can't resist---writers, artists, editors, layout, and more were all amazing. If you want some inspiration for your game, consider checking it out!
