Pictures Of My Two Poetry Books, One At A Time
Hi Danielle and hi everybody! This is Michael Teferi here! Here are the pictures of myself with my two poetry books, one at a time! Please let me know your thoughts and opinions about them with me! FYI, I have decided to wait until I get published going forward. I just honestly need to be discovered! Here is my free, brand new Author Website: https://michaelteferi.author-pages.com

Great to meet you, Michael! Congratulations on publishing your poetry books—that’s a huge achievement in itself. It’s not easy putting your work out there, and you should be proud of that. Wishing you all the best as you continue your journey and work toward getting discovered!

Oh, so I hope you are planning toward that, right?
Why Most Self-Published Books Never Make Sales 📚
Most self-published books fail not because the author is bad, but because the strategy is weak. Common mistakes include: • Choosing the wrong niche • Poor book covers • Weak titles & descriptions • No marketing strategy • Wrong keywords • Low-quality content • Giving up too early Self-publishing is more than just uploading a book you need the right strategy to attract readers and make sales. 🚀 What do you think is the biggest mistake beginners make in self-publishing? Have you ever tried publishing a book before? 👇

I think one of the biggest mistakes beginners make is underestimating marketing. A lot of us focus so much on writing the book (which is important), but don’t spend enough time thinking about how readers will actually find it. Discoverability is everything.
Formatting Children's Books
First off, it's NOT the same as formatting a novel! With a novel, as long as you set the correct guidelines up front, all you really need to do is upload the text and everything will fall into place...for the most part. Not with children's books! There are so many moving parts when it comes to the design especially if the illustrator does not include the text in the picture. (TIP- if this is your first children's book, find an illustrator that will fully incorporate the text! This will save you time and money.) Are you formatting yourself? If so, what platform and tools are you using?

This is so true—children’s books are a completely different ball game. I’ve been trying to format mine myself using Canva, which has been great for layout, but it definitely takes time getting everything aligned properly. Still learning as I go!
Pre-release or not?
Just curious how you guys do it when self-publishing on KDP. Do you upload when ready and release immediately? Or, do you schedule your release? If scheduling, how long do you schedule it for? A month? Two months etc?

Great question. I’ve done both, but I’m starting to lean more toward scheduling a release. Giving it a few weeks (usually 3–4) helps me build a bit of momentum—sharing teasers, lining up promotion, and actually letting people know the book is coming. Feels much less rushed than hitting publish straight away.

Hi everyone! I’m just about to head back to Australia (Byron Bay / Gold Coast) after spending the last two years in the UK. I’ve self-published three books so far and I’m really looking forward to dedicating more time to writing in this next chapter. Excited to learn, grow, and connect with fellow authors here!
