Becoming a coach. Seeking knowledge sources.
Hey everyone, A quick update on my journey. After deciding to move into the fitness industry, it's time for the next concrete step: I want to start my journey to become a coach. I need to be honest here – all my experience so far has come from training myself. I've created my own plans and I genuinely love analyzing the process. However, I've only ever done this for myself; never professionally and never for other people. This is where I need your input. I'm looking for good, proven recommendations for knowledge sources. It can be anything: books, courses, YouTube... anything you consider essential groundwork. My goal is to genuinely develop and be a good coach for myself and others. Thanks in advance for any guidance.
Quick update: November goal achieved.
Hey everyone, Just a quick update. Yesterday was a public holiday in Poland – our Independence Day. I celebrated it by achieving my main goal for November: I competed in a mountain running race. It wasn't my peak performance by any means, but it was a crucial checkpoint. For me, this is another important step toward the much bigger goal I'm working on. Just like joining this community, it’s part of the process of getting back on track and seeing what's possible. On to the next one.

@Megan Barb Thanks! I appreciate it. It was in the Polish mountains, on a peak called "Błatnia". It's not a high-altitude range, but it was still a demanding course. The race was 11km with 500m of elevation gain. My goal was to finish under 1.5 hours, and I managed it in 1:24h, so I'm calling that a success for this stage. As for my "normal peak performance" – it's been a while. Back when I was in top shape, a 30km race with 1700m of elevation gain in under 3 hours wasn't a major challenge. To be honest, I didn't track the numbers as obsessively back then. I just focused on running hard on tough terrain.
Hey! Time to get back on track.
Hey everyone, Adrian Gromakowski here! 👋 I'm incredibly grateful to be here and to join this community. A bit about me: sports have always been a part of my life. However, fate (and my career) led me to become a professional programmer. 💻 I won't lie – office work has taken its toll on my fitness, and I'm definitely not in peak shape right now. But that's exactly why I'm here. I want to change that. My goal is to get back on track, discover my true potential, and simply give it my all every day. Looking forward to meeting you all!

@Matt Wallace Thanks for the welcome! You're right, there are avenues there, and I've decided to take them. To be honest, I am planning to transition my career out of programming and move fully into the fitness industry. Programming is a good job, and it pays the bills, but I’ve had to accept that it’s just not in my nature. This journey back to fitness (and joining this group) is part of rediscovering that. It's clear to me now that I need to align my work with what I'm truly passionate about. So, to answer your 10-year question: I don't see myself as a programmer. I see myself working in fitness.
