MDM Feedback (let's workshop this)
I'm crafting my MDM -- new biz, new offer. Would love your input as I'm not exactly following FM protocol 100%. I know that my main currency is increased revenue... But I don't want the metric to be, i.e. "$10-15k in 90 days". I know that's the usual, clear, consise message. The problem is, that concept doesn't jibe with how I show up, and it won't attract the kind of people I like to work with (mid-life professionals who want to work less, earn more, and do good) who value impact (#1) over income (#2). So, while added revenue is still my main currency, I've changed the metric to be less specific: I help mid-life experts, authors, and entrepreneurs earn more and work less in 90 days -- without long email sequences, useless ads, or endless hours of content creation. -- OR -- I help mid-life experts, authors, and entrepreneurs earn more and work less in 90 days -- without an email list, paid ads, or social media. QUESTIONS: 1 - Which version do you think is stronger? 2 - Is there a better way to say the metric? 3 - Have I completely undermined MDM theory by allowing the metric to be more soft/open-ended/self-defined according to the potential client? 4 - Which "-- without..." seems more compelling to you: the one with the benefits (first version), or the one that names the features (second version)? ORRRRRR.... thinking out loud here -- if the #1 value is impact should the currency reflect that? In which case... back to the drawingboard! Thanks for any feedback you feel like giving. 😆 🙏

Thanks for sharing your draft messaging—your intention really shines through! As a fellow coach and small business strategist, I completely understand the challenge of blending results-driven messaging with values-centered work. From a StoryBrand “Customer is the Hero” lens, here's a quick breakdown and my take: 1. Which version is stronger? Both are compelling, but the first version (with the benefits: "without long email sequences, useless ads...") is stronger. Why? It speaks more clearly to the problem your hero wants to avoid. Donald Miller teaches that when we show what’s at stake (and what we help people avoid), our message lands better. The benefits-based version hits the emotional and logistical frustrations head-on. 2. Is there a better way to say the metric? You’re wise to pause here. Instead of "$10K in 90 days", try positioning the transformation with softer precision. Something like: "I help mid-life entrepreneurs and experts increase their income and impact—without hustle culture or digital overwhelm—using a strategic, soulful 90-day plan." You can even use a split: “In 90 days, we’ll increase clarity, simplify strategy, and unlock greater revenue potential—with less grind and more grace.” 3. Have you undermined MDM theory with a softer metric? Not at all. In fact, you’re honoring the “emotional motivation” component of MDM by aligning the mission with what truly matters to your audience. Donald often emphasizes the importance of creating a clear mission that motivates action. For your audience, impact is the motivator—not just money. Your softer metric can still be clear, just value-aligned. 4. Which “without” is more compelling? The first version (benefits) again feels more emotionally engaging. But you could mix both worlds: "...without an email list, paid ads, or content overwhelm." Or punchier still: "No funnel fatigue. No social pressure. Just strategy that sells." Most Info Product Creators Are Sitting on Hidden Revenue
You don’t need a bigger audience. You need to monetize the one you already have. Here’s a simple framework I use for info product creators: ✅ Segment your list→ Tag leads as buyers, warm, cold, webinar watchers, etc. ✅ Build a “Content to Sale” system→ Weekly email → micro story → lesson → soft CTA to product ✅ Use urgency ethically→ Add real deadlines (limited bonus, price increase, limited spots) with countdowns. One of my clients scaled from $2K to $7K/mo just by fixing their emails, without touching ads.

I love that you reference "ethically". Online marketing can feel like trick tactics, so upholding integrity in the buying process is important to me.
