What are the IDGs? An open discussion
Earlier this week, community members came together around the theme "What are the IDGs?" Some participants were new, others more familiar with the framework. However, newness wasnโt the key point of departure for our discussion. Instead, what mattered was the willingness to explore with the different competencies in conversation, drawing on lived experience. This kind of engagement stimulates reflection and strengthens our ability to express the depth of the different competencies. In small breakouts, members used the IDG Roulette (thank you Barbara Holzner) to spark conversations around spontaneously selected competenciesโmuch like daily life, where we donโt always know what inner development resources weโll need to tap into for any given situation. When we came back together in plenary, the competencies of courage, empathy, compassion, inner compass, and co-creation had emerged. This led to a rich exchange of perspectives and stories, touching on personal restoration, self-criticism, judgment, vulnerability, and the importance of allowing conflict to surface as a driver for strengthening community. Through different stories, we heard both the frustration and patience that can accompany co-creation, especially in multicultural environments. One insight that stood out was the recognition that before true co-creation can take root, "rules of engagement" may need to be establishedโa process that takes time and a willingness to accept that our worldview might be the very thing preventing us from discovering something new together. At the heart of this work is trustโthe foundation that allows us to move from not knowing to knowing together. Each of us is on a different path, at different stages. Itโs not always easyโฆand it's okay to acknowledge this and stay in the conversation. LOVE โ Let Others Voluntarily Evolve. THANK YOU to each of you for taking the time to step into the discussion. We will host a second discussion on March 28th 19.00-20.00 CET and a third in April.
