Reflecting on ā€œGoalsā€
Many years ago when I was very ill with cancer I was gifted a perpetual flip calendar based on the New York Times bestseller ā€œAsk and It Is Givenā€ by Esther & Jerry Hicks. I’ve kept it and regularly update to the date. Today seems particularly meaningful especially after listening to Jon Kabat-Zinn speak on awareness, breath and mindfulness. Whenever I’ve been asked about goals I’ve sensed a resistance and resonate much more with ā€œachieving the vibration of allowingā€¦ā€ Each of us is the visionary in creating our lives and here is where the Inner Development Guide makes such a meaningful contribution. If you have the time to sit with this, we’d love to hear your thoughts too.

@Andrija Bednarik Agreed šŸ‘šŸ¼ My go to for vibrational and energetic cleansing is Reikki. Visualization is another for healing and allowing.
Hello from Toronto!
Hi everyone, I’m Amy from Toronto, Canada. I discovered IDG while building my leadership practice on inner + outer integration at the start of 2025. I was truly grateful to find a community that seemed to finally understand what drives me and why I’m so passionate about inner development. I come from a background in corporate talent management and leadership development. While I enjoyed those roles, I often felt a missing piece in delivering real, lasting value to people. That curiosity led me to explore how I could contribute in a bigger, more meaningful way, taking a leap of faith and courage. I look forward to connecting with all of you and learning from this space. -Amy

On December 11th, Jon Kabat-Zinn will speak at the University of Geneva to close the international summit United and Present, held December 9–11 under the auspices of the United Nations.
After two days at the Palais des Nations exploring the links between well-being, diplomacy, and human rights, this public conference will focus on: 🧭 ā€œMindfulness in a Changing Worldā€ šŸ‘‰ The event is sold out, but free livestream access will be available HERE Note: The link leads to a French UNIGE page, but the event will be in English. This event is coordinated by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, with Geneva University Hospitals and the University of Geneva – Faculty of Medicine, and supported by several partners including Nouveau Monde. šŸ“ŗ I’ll be watching online! About MBSR:Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), has spent over 40 years bringing evidence-based mindfulness into healthcare. His work has transformed how professionals understand stress, suffering, and emotional regulation. Today, hospitals, universities, schools, and organizations worldwide use mindfulness to support resilience and well-being. At this conference, he’ll reflect on what it means to stay present amid complexity and how mindfulness can help manage emotional and professional overload. UNIGE and HUG are currently studying the benefits of mindfulness for students, caregivers, and patients. Moderation: Guido Bondolfi, Emeritus Professor, University of Geneva Faculty of Medicine Mara Arizaga, Head OHCHR Well-being Unit, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights

@Elizabeth Topp I did watch the livestream and found him eloquent and true to form weaving together neuroscience with awareness, emotion, thinking and our deep connection to each other and the Earth. Our ability to think is what puts us into judgment while being aware is more of an acceptance of each moment without attachment. He connected the beauty of breath to our essence and yet we take each breath and the quality of the air we breath for granted. I was surprised and amazed that he was unaware of the UN, he called it medecine for the planet. Thank @Elizabeth Topp for sharing your impressions šŸ¤—
Hi, I am Tanja from Germany
Hi everyone, I’m Tanja. I worked for many years in tourism and learned that successful marketing concepts depend far more on structures, processes and collaboration than on communication alone. This insight led me to expand my work: today I support public-sector organizations in strategy, organizational development and inner growth. What brings me to IDG@Work is my conviction that inner development is essential for meaningful transformation. Many of my clients still work in reactive, fragmented routines — often lacking space and maturity across the five IDG dimensions. I’m here to learn, to contribute and to explore how we can strengthen Being, Thinking, Relating, Collaborating and Acting in practice. Excited to connect and grow together. 🌿✨

Mindfulness and Sustainability at the Crossroads: Towards Mindfulness Curricula for Human and Planetary Wellbeing and Transformation
Over a decade ago I took the 8week course created by Jon Kabat-Zin on Mindfulness Based Stess Reduction and it has been a game changer. Here is a fabulous new article written by Christine Wamsler and her colleagues making clear linkages to the importance of cultivating a healthy inner world to be in true connection with each other, our communities and to nature. Here is an excerpt from the article: ā€œUnderstanding the roots of today’s polycrisis points to the cultural narratives underlying modern societies. Scholars and practitioners increasingly identify a dominant social paradigm of separation or alienation as a key driver of today’s interconnected crises (Eisenstein 2013; Gƶpel 2016; Wamsler and Bristow 2022). This paradigm assumes that human thinking minds are distinct from feelings and bodIES, that people are separate from one another, that some are superior to others, and that humanity is separate and superior to the natural world (Scott et al. 2021). In modern societies, many people are increasingly unconscious of their emotions, bodily sensations, and deeper values, influenced by factors such as trauma, denial, digital distractions, and pervasive busyness. As a result, individual behavior is often driven by fear- or incentive-based motivations rather than by social, affiliative, or caring ones. Modern societies dominated by consumption, power, and achievement increasingly marginAlize values of care, connection, and affiliation. To make matters worse, these disconnections—from self, others, and nature—mutually reinforce each other, and disconnection from our environment mirrors and reinforces disconnection from ourselves (Hawken 2021; Wamsler and Bristow 2022). For instance, diminished body awareness impairs empathy, weakens social identity, and undermines a sense of meaning and belonging (Bristow et al. 2022; Scott et al. 2021). Today’s polycrisis is therefore also described as a crisis of perception or meaning, intrinsically linked to what has beenā€¦ā€¦ā€https://rdcu.be/eRJFj

@Chris Burton Thanks for checking in on this. Agreed! If you push past the academic-ness it really is a fabulous resource. Look forward to your insights that we can bring into the New Year
