Remember the yellow pages?
I remembered the experience a few days ago and just wanted to share it for grins and giggles. I can do that now but at the time it was a challenge. Many years ago I had a studio I worked out of behind my home. I taught yoga & meditation classes, saw clients for healing and did foot reflexology. One day a woman from the yellow pages called me to put a listing in the yellow pages. This was before energy work or even yoga was well known. Massage was beginning to grow so she suggested I put my ad under massage. When the new book came out I was horrified to find that my listing was in the section with women of the night! I came right after Harrisburg Fantasy Girls. OMG. For the next year + any time I got a phone call from a man I had to be really, really clear about what I actually do and don't do. One evening I did have a man insist that this was what he wanted but I felt really nervous. He mentioned that his friends said it would help him relax. I had my daughter lock the doors to the house. If he was expecting a different happy ending he didn't get it. It may have been an undercover cop checking me out also. I still had to fight the phone company. A letter from an attorney did the trick. The ad should have been placed under Massage Therapy! I hadn't looked, I trusted the sales rep to know. How about you? Any crazy business stories?

@Robin Helm yes it was an interesting experience and I believe everything happens for a reason. In fact I think it has popped back into my memory as a reminder. I’m going to do some journaling on it. There’s something here.

I’m pretty excited and so happy I shared this story. It took me two days to follow through and share it. This conversation led me to ask what the purpose of the experience was. Why is this coming up now? The short version is the archetype of the prostitute. It’s powerful and ties into my lifeboat project! Gotta love it.
Day 4 of Life Boat Challenge
This took me 2 or 3 days to get through and I am going to listen to it again. What's in my face is time dedication. Here's my life now and what do I need to shuffle? What boundaries do I need in place? Thanks for reminding me to breathe! This is where it started to feel real and my oh shit hit. OK, let's be real that wasn't my first oh shit. Right now I'm going to rename this feeling to excitement. I have a team of people backing me and believing in me. Oh what a concept.

@Robin Helm thank you
Broken to Badass
I help people find freedom from a habit that’s taken over their life with my Broken to Badass class and community. I have watched all the videos for week one and have time blocked for the assignments. Whew!

@Laura Deter tech such as Facebook is purposely designed to be addicting. Two days ago I finished the Netflix series Nashville, another addictive behavior. I enjoyed it but I've committed this time to no more series. I have the same issue with a good book. My off button doesn't work well.

@Laura Deter I walk in the woods generally twice a day. Meditate, do tapping, music and eat pretty healthy. It’s more about stopping myself. I can watch a movie and stop. It’s the series that challenge me. Sometimes I make myself stop and go do something after 1 or two episodes. It’s just like asking an alcoholic to stop after 1 drink. It’s tough. I can also feel how detrimental it is. It feels like I’m in the grip of something. I can honestly say sometimes I feel like crap the next morning. The downside of technology sometimes.
Let's celebrate!
OMG! Amazing! @Vickie Helm was all about us sharing our wins today. And we went deep. The beautiful, accomplished women in the room shared that at times they've NOT been able to think of anything they're proud of. Not one single thing. 😿 WHAT? as women, we're pushing for the next accomplishment, we're never done, we don't stop to really FEEL how amazing we are! I talk about Broken to Badass - AND i don't believe we're broken. Feeling that way just means we've felt lack and "not good enough" so much that we're trying to prove our worth by our accomplishments. I deeply believe that we are inherently worthy just because we're on the planet. I deeply believe that we are inherently worthy just because we're on the planet. yes, I said that twice - and when we stop to acknowledge our wins, we actually become more productive - AND we're wiring NEW neural pathways. Let's own our badass selves who change people's lives with our lifeboat businesses! I'm so blessed and grateful to be part of this amazing group of women!

Member of the week!
We want to take a moment to recognize and congratulate our Member of the Week, @Susan Kline ! Susan consistently shows up in our community with curiosity, perseverance, vulnerability, and kindness. In fact, I just said to her last week that her vulnerability often gives the rest of us a permission slip to share our own. We are so excited to continue to watch your journey as an Undependent Woman and all of the amazing things you are putting together including your YouTube channel! Congrats Susan!

@Michelle Burke I appreciated what you shared today. I can relate to using your family example of what you don't want to do!
