Replacing emotion with consistency
I have been watching the wildness of the crypto market the last 2 months and was reminded of something very important when it comes to growing wealth. It would've been very easy to panic in September when the values were dropping or act based on FOMO when they began to sharply climb again in October. But successful wealthy people know that the name of the game is to take informed, consistent action. And over time, the assets and investments will grow. It's like this in so many areas of life.... With exercise, we can't depend fully on motivation because more days than not, our subconscious is going to scream at us to just stay in bed or take it easy. But a committed plan of exercise with incremental gains each week will make us stronger. And it's the same with building a business. If there's one thing I've learned, building a business will test you like nothing else. It'll test your resolve, your commitment, your stamina, your sanity...... It's like an Ashram full of lessons where you have to look deep into your psyche to find where your wounds are holding you back. But staying the course with consistent action even on the worst days ensures we are moving forward. There's nothing wrong with having feelings and emotions, and I think it's important to recognize when they are taking us off track from meeting our goals. We can spend time with them and realize they are only temporary instead of letting them take us out of the game for long periods of time. And when we've put the work in and feel proud of ourselves, we can put on a classic RomCom and have a good cry fest! How do you overcome those moments where the emotions might be keeping you from accomplishing what you want?
@Vickie Helm I love that!! What's the "long-term view." And bro marketing tries to tell us we can work on a beach and make millions within a month....convincing people to spend thousands on tactics that don't work in the long run. I think people are becoming wise to these tactics though.
Today you just have to do something 1% better than yesterday.
I had a great conversation with @Jodi Wolgamuth yesterday. She was encouraging me and reminded me that I just had to do one percent better in one thing each day. That was a perfect message for me yesterday. I wanted to share it with you today. Thank you, Jodi.
Yes! This is true in so many areas and takes away the overwhelm of making big sweeping changes. Thank you for the reminder!
The power of Gratitude
Gratitude is something that helps me remain in the flow and appreciation energy. When things are stressful or complicated, I fall into gratitude because it loosens up my creativity and helps me feel joy. I am wondering what are 3 things you are grateful for in your life right now? Put it in the comments below... I will go first.
I am grateful that my family is healthy and has everything they need. I am grateful to the beautiful mountains which bring me peace and contentment every time I look at them. I am grateful that I was able to do 5 strict pull ups in my exercise class today.
@Vickie Helm back atcha!!!!
Community Platforms vs Social Media
Many in this group have commented about the difference they feel when they spend time here on Skool and with the Undependent women as compared to the big (and pretty toxic) platforms like Facebook. I feel so strongly that this is the way of the future for both individuals and businesses that I wrote an article for our publication on Medium (another community platform for readers and writers). These are tools that @Vickie Helm and I are educating you on as channels for you to build your audience and promote your product/business. The Meta platforms unfortunately aren't as effective as they used to be and businesses with thousands of followers are losing their accounts for no reason. Would love to hear your thoughts below on this migration!
Taking it in -
I did the videos in the Lifeboat Biz challenge to finish the pre-work. I LOVE the idea of community coming first - In my work helping others overcome addiction, community is SO helpful. I'm good at sharing how awful my life was when I was drinking too much, but people will relate more to their peers who are in the middle like they are. I'm excited to explore possibilities - and love the idea of connecting AWAY from social media (the political stuff and the ads are hard for me - so is the "everything's great" vibe. I prefer reality - it's relatable and makes it easier to connect.
@Laura Deter what important work you are doing! My partner just hit 4 years sober and life just keeps getting sweeter every day! And so glad you agree with us that this platform FEELS like a more positive and worthwhile place to spend time.
