Pentatonic Transition Exercise (Box 1-4)
Still working on moving between the pentatonic boxes. Also working more on the timing/ not playing every note exactly on the metronome. I still feel like I need to work on it more as I didn’t always end each lick on time, but it still made me think and be more conscious of playing “around” the beat which was good.

This is a great exercise actually for practicing precision for big slides. You are doing great @Riley Duncan and also keeping it tight with the metronome. Great job!

👋 Hey everyone! Here’s a creative chord progression challenge for the weekend. This time, i have a fingerstyle riff for you. Step 1: Watch the video below. Step 2: Learn ONE of the 3 riff variations - the easy, medium or hard one. Step 3: Make up your own ending for it, record and share it under this post! ❕Skip to 0:58 for the easy difficulty riff. ❗Skip to 1:55 for the medium difficulty riff. ‼️ Skip to 3:08 for the hard difficulty riff. ✨ Let’s see what cool ideas we can come up with together! P.S. I said "G form" at 3:57 when i referred to the chord voicing. But it's actually C form. If this is greek to you, it just means you haven't learned the layered method yet. If so, no need to worry about it.

@Christian Lie yeah, I guess it's a natural way to move from E to A to B

@Christian Lie @Geoffrey Becker Yes, also that A to A sus was very good as well. Great job!
Burnout, Books, and Breaks 🔥📗🥱
Do you have something you do to relax, like reading, writing, or walking? As you may know, I put a lot of energy into my 1-on-1 lessons and this community. I want to help people feel confident and creatively free when picking up the guitar. But it’s not always easy. This month I almost worked a bit too much. Luckily, I saw it coming and took some time off to read and rest. What's your favourite down-time activity?

Spending time with my kids has actually been one of the main things keeping me from burning out. I don’t really have the time or space to do much else, but in a way that’s a good thing. It forces me to disconnect from work. It might sound counterintuitive since parenting can be stressful on its own, but it shifts my focus completely

@Christian Lie I've never been to a sauna here. I think there are a few in some hotels in Ohrid, but they are probably just a bad replica. Not like the one we've been to in Oslo
How to pick up the guitar and just play
The video below shows my full answer. But if you want the short steps: 1. Learn lots of songs. 2. Learn to move around the guitar neck using stacks, rectangles, the pentatonic scale, etc. 3. Take your favorite licks from songs and make them your own. Use the fretboard shapes to help you. Remember: Don’t be too hard on yourself. Your new ideas won’t always sound great, and that’s okay. What matters is to travel at the speed of inspiration.

@Christian Lie FACGCE and DADGAD it's really worth the detuning time haha

@Andy Quan You should definitely give it a try. Since it's a different tuning, the common chord shapes and scale patterns sound different. And you can come up with very interesting note combinations :)

@Geoffrey Becker Sounds great Geoffrey! I really like the tone. Did you use some kind of chorus or is it just the camera audio that is making it to sound like that?
