Friday The 13th 🥶
Do you believe in any extreme diet trend?
I’m thinking like carnivore, paleo, keto, maybe vegan?- Im not exactly sure about the plant based eating is so extreme. What are your thoughts?

@Krisztián Nagy Science is a funny thing, it's a very incomplete picture and has its flaws. What was nonsense yesterday is science today and what is science today is nonsense tomorrow. For years they sold us "low-fat" based on so-called science until it turned out to be lies. Scientists, like all people, lie, have egos, agendas, etc. Some are good at their job, others not so much. I haven't seen any science that says carnivore isn't good. There are potential hurdles, but meat gives you most of the nutrients you need. Fat, protein, and minerals are what we need most. Paleo works well because it's just eating natural whole foods like our ancestors would have. Meat and plants minus grains and legumes (although some of these might be ok if they're sprouted and/or fermented which most aren't). No processed junk.

@Krisztián Nagy It's hard to tell some of these things long term. It also depends where you're starting from. If you are perfectly healthy and go carnivore you may not have the same outcome as someone who starts from 100 lbs overweight. Same with plant-based or whatever else. The only questions about it I've really seen are in relation to vitamin C and fiber. Which is also why Paleo makes a lot of sense because if we want to look at long term, that's how we've been eating since we've been eating and since it has plants and animals there are no concerns with missing anything in particular (other than junk). You could choose to go heavier on the plants or heavier on the meats and still be Paleo. This is also why science can have problems because we get to a place where we rely heavily on it but the data is all pretty specific and short term whereas the anecdotal information is what has lasted centuries / millennia.
Martial arts is what finally balanced my health.
For years, I relied almost entirely on food to manage my weight. If my nutrition was tight, I felt in control. If it wasn’t, everything felt off. Today I spoke with someone who’s the opposite — she relies heavily on exercise. When she can’t train, her progress slips. It made me realize something: Health built on one pillar is fragile. What changed for me wasn’t “more workouts.”It was finding martial arts. Training gave me strength, structure, stress relief, and confidence. It became more than calorie burn — it became part of who I am. Now if one area of my health isn’t perfect, everything doesn’t collapse. There’s balance. Martial arts didn’t just improve my fitness. It stabilized it. For those of you who train — what has martial arts changed for you beyond just the physical?
Martial arts is what finally balanced my health.

Exercise has tremendous benefits but what makes martial arts different is that it contains all of those same benefits plus things like philosophy, meditation, self-defense, etc. Exercise can make you feel good about yourself physically and releases chemicals that contribute to that too, but there is a different kind of confidence that comes with self-defense. Exercise can work wonders on insecurity, but martial arts goes a step further toward security. Martial arts often come with a connection to a group of people and even a shared history. A mentor and a role as mentor to others. Discipline and structure make a big difference in all aspects of life. Martial arts also helps to deal with fear and staying calm in a way that exercise alone does not. Staying balanced. Being proactive instead of reactive. This becomes an approach to life as a whole. And sometimes, there is nothing better for stress than a good old fashioned punching bag! Food plays a big role too, but food can't replace exercise. Exercise can't replace food either, but since your body makes a lot of nutrients itself, I place it a little higher on the list.

@Kevin Love Keep what is useful, discard what isn't, make it your own. The other part is learn everything you can and keep an open mind. Take action and keep practicing. Take a deep breath, remain calm, stay ground and aware.
Motivation fades. Discipline doesn’t.
Stop waiting to feel ready. Start messy. Start unsure. Start scared. Clarity comes from action. Confidence comes from repetition. Results come from consistency. Keep showing up. 🔥

Ready is an action, not a moment.💯

@Krisztián Nagy Those are some great ones. "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." You have to make the time and take the action. If you focus on the process, the outcome comes. If you focus on the outcome, the process can become an afterthought. Momentum builds so it only takes something small to get the ball rolling.

@Kevin Love Yeah, hopefully one of the good YouTube channels will interview them. News media is pretty wack these days.

@Alvaro Perez It's hard to tell if there have ever been times that weren't strange. It seems like there are just times we notice it more and times we notice it less. Very inspiring. We all have to keep walking the path. There will be ups and downs and bumps in the road but we can all follow their lead and make our own difference. Sometimes we just have to give ourselves a chance to catch our breath, take a deep breath, and then keep on walking.🙏
