Is flute a toy?
I thought about this when I was thinking about rewriting my line in my affirmations that says "You like where you live, a unique tiny house filled with your favorite instruments & colors" to "...filled with your favorite toys." I think, to me, flute is a toy. Albeit an advanced one. If cars and computers can be grown-up toys, why can't flutes? I was remembering how my friend Annie learned the flute mostly as a toy, when she was a child, first!

I like to think of the flute as something fun, same with the piano or any instrument. I often feel sympathy for those in the industry who have stressful or sad looks on their faces. The Muppet Show with Jean Pierre Rampal led me to pick the flute. How cool it was watching him jamming on his flute with mice, Kermit, and Miss Piggy!

Oh that is one! I love the Ease on Down the Road, too! I would like to be able to do this someday, just jam with a bass guitar in the background. https://youtu.be/RsMJwVQ8iJU?si=4Rj1o4KD-9tRYYER
Dueting with myself in F major!
My duet with myself in F Major! Funny how well two flutes blend when they are the same, right? Here's the link to the original duet so you can improvise with it too!

I have been trying to "unite" my piano and flute playing so your duet request was the catalyst! Reflecting on the assignment, I realized how difficult it was not having both visual and hearing communication (signaling) at the same time that usually occurs between multiple musicians playing live together. Also, how difficult it was trying to keep sound/timing decent while focusing on the piano. My first swing at this in F Major!

Today I joined the Flutarians, a community of [Happy] flutists who believe that improvising can be [Fun], not [Scary]. When I first started, I felt [awkward] - like a [Bear] caught in [Earthquake]. But now I am learning to improvise with [ease] and without [embarrassment]. My tone feels more [steady} every time I play. Even [Helga] has started to notice! I am already improvising in [learning to play the piano]. I am an improviser! Every day I am becoming a more [confident] improviser. I trust my [heart]. With each improvisation I am letting go of [fear]. With each musical phrase, I am finding & expressing my unique musical voice. I improvise. I am committed to [not being so scared to play in front of others without sheet music]. I will not be defeated by the feeling of being overwhelmed; My future self is grateful to my present self for taking it one step at a time."
Improv in C
Here is my improv in C. I was trying to be intentional about playing from my heart. I liked that I had some ebbs and flow and the phrasing. I didn't like some of the times my tone wasn't what I wanted it to be and went flat on some notes.
