Hi Everyone! 👋
Hi all! I'm Kevin from Sydney, Australia. I've just joined the group so thought I'd say hi and introduce myself. I recently turned 60 and joined Skool at the end of Jan this year. Trying to find full-time work has been extremely frustrating and demoralizing - it's just incredible how ageist companies are, so Skool is now the route I'm going down. Since the beginning of March I have launched my community (Pattern Skool) and recently just created my YouTube channel. It's my first time creating videos and I'm learning the (many) ropes as I go. I am a self taught pattern designer (I can create designs you see on wallpaper, giftwrap, fabric, upholstery, etc.), and this is what my Skool community is based around - teaching beginners and creative hobbyists how to create patterns. The aim of my YouTube channel is to try and drive traffic to my Skool community, with a view to eventually making money with my community (being completely honest here!). I film tutorials for my channel on how to create patterns on an iPad using various applications. Anyway, that's a brief intro of myself. I look forward to exploring this community in the next few weeks.

Hello and welcome Kevin 😀 I appreciate your honesty and think that you have a very unique idea. Can these designs/patterns also go on the peel and sticks that attach to walls or windows? (I mention the window as I just watched someone decorate a new apartment after a marriage breakup and she was putting patterned stick ups on the window for privacy. Maybe you could also offer that?)

@Kevin Brackley That's quite neat actually and yes, there are literally patterns on everything, lol.

Promote Your Products or Services on YouTube
Challenges come in different forms and sometimes we might prevent ourselves from moving forward. I’m pleased that YouTube has given me an opportunity to grow my visibility and extend my reach. This is especially true in my retirement years during these hard economic times. I also thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my updates and this additional tidbit of information. Since I can’t always make it to the Coffee Chats, I wanted to touch on this topic with a personal video. I had to change my YouTube frame of mind in order to gain confidence. This video style will be edited and adapted to be more suitable for a specific audience. It’s still a learning process for me. I hope that this example will be somewhat helpful to anyone on this group who does not know where to start. 💓

@Karen Taylor Yes, totally agree with the novel ways that any creator can offer their products and services. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box 😊

Harut interviewing Dan Martell’s Creative Director
Just starting to watch this now and it’s shaping up to be full of gems. Not everyone wants to massively scale their channels but if hearing Alexa Saaranoja’s coach interviewing this guy sounds promising - why give it a go? I’ll pop back in and give a couple of standout learnings after I finish watching 🍿📺👀 I’ve clipped the best 50 seconds from this that I liked and will add below🔥

@Karen Taylor I agree with creating pacing. One section should lead into the next, like a story, quite naturally. If it sounds weird when I read something out loud, then that transition needs to be improved or changed. I'm having an issue with this right now on a video script I'm working on. Sometimes a subject has mini subjects under the umbrella of the main topic and getting them all to work in union can be tricky.

I appreciate you giving us shorter breakdowns and your takeaways Karen........"I’ll pop back in and give a couple of standout learnings after I finish watching 🍿📺👀" I did listen to the shorter clip.

@Karen Taylor I had some downtime for sure Karen but I wouldn't say it was completely offline, lol. I've been working on this script for what feels like weeks and I thought I was done until yesterday, lol. Pretty much rewrote the whole thing. When something just doesn't feel right, it probably isn't 😉
