Running a business is one thing.
Running a business while refereeing meltdowns at home?
That’s a whole other league.
I can be mid-Zoom, trying to sound like I’ve got my sh*t together… while in the background there’s shouting, tears, doors slamming. And that’s just me 🤣 (kidding… mostly).
Truth is, when you’re raising a neurodivergent daughter — and you’re ND yourself — the emotional load is constant. It doesn’t clock off when the laptop shuts. It’s 24/7.
Here’s what I’ve learnt (the messy way):
Resets matter. Even 5 minutes of tea + deep breaths outside can change the whole vibe.
Guilt isn’t a trophy. Running yourself ragged doesn’t prove you’re a good mum.
Boundaries keep us alive. “Not today, thanks” might be the most powerful sentence I’ve ever said.
Some days I nail it. Some days I’m just surviving. And that’s okay.
I’d love to hear from you: how do you find even 5 minutes for yourself when you’re being pulled in every direction?
Because sometimes, those 5 minutes are the only thing between us and total burnout.
Naomi 💛
