Milestone 02 My story for The IT Guy
1. As I trudge into the kitchen, making a bee line for the coffee pot, 2. she says: “Honey! Not right now. But when you get the chance, I need your magic touch”. 3. And so, another morning begins for the person who is decidedly not a morning person. 4. I take a sip from my coffee mug and veer off in her direction. 5. And I ask myself “When did it finally happen?”. 6. She continues: “Honey, the iPad is frozen again, and you need to do that thing you did the last time.” 7. And I think: “When did I get so lucky? When did I become thee IT guy?” 8. “When?” 9. She hands me the iPad. 10. I close the app, then open it back up, and I hand it back to her. All fixed. 11. My mind flashes back to other times and other fixes performed by the IT guy. 12. Like the time she said: “Honey, “it” says my Cloud storage is full, and it’s going to delete my pictures.” 13. To which I replied: “Maybe you have too many pictures on your phone. Try sorting through them and deleting some. I mean 900 pictures is a lot of pictures, even for you.” 14. She said: “It only lets me delete one at a time.” 15. And I replied: “I don’t think so.” 16. Similarly, there was the time she said: “Honey, the internet is slow today. My iPad isn’t pulling up my email.” 17. And I replied: “Have you deleted any of the 35,000 emails you’ve collected in your inbox over the past five years?” 18. And she responded: “I can only delete one at a time.” 19. And I said: “I don’t think so.”
