What I've noticed.
This is my first time writing anything regarding wrestling or really anything that I'm putting on the World Wide Web. Please be gentle with your comments and criticism while reading this. I have been watching wrestling since I was maybe 6 years old. I'm 51 now and have seen so many changes in wrestling. I remember the excitement and suspense in not knowing what was next. As I watch wrestling now I still enjoy it but not the same. Lately though I have found my self getting mad or disgusted after watching a PLE or a weekly show. I couldn't figure out why I was feeling this way. Then one day recently I figured it out. I was getting so engrossed in the predictions, rumours, and spoilers on the dirt sheets that I was not enjoying the actual product. So for a month or so I completely disengaged from paying attention to any of the stuff on the Internet and just watched the weekly shows and the PLE and that was it. What I found was that I enjoyed the product and wasn't getting upset when the show didn't go the way the Internet thought it would. While it wasn't exactly like watching it when I was younger I did find not paying attention to the inter buzz about wrestling did bring just a little bit of enjoyment and suspense back to watching the weekly shows and PLEs.
Why Do Fans Care So Much About Ratings & Attendance?
Because to them… that’s the scoreboard. Ratings = who “won” Attendance = who actually drew money It turns fandom into tribal warfare. “My show is better” isn’t enough anymore—fans want receipts. It’s also validation. High numbers mean “I backed the right horse.” Low numbers feel like cheering for someone who never got over. And let’s be real—fans have seen companies die. So they track numbers like a medical chart, hoping their favorite brand survives. But here’s the truth most miss 👇 Numbers follow connection. Always have. Hot characters, real emotion, crowds that care—that creates momentum. Metrics catch up later. Lesson for wrestlers & creators: Don’t chase numbers. Chase engagement. If people are arguing about you? You’re getting over. And when you own your audience instead of renting attention? You stop worrying about ratings… and start worrying about revenue 💰 That’s how you win the long game. 🏆
