I recently treated a patient with persistent neck tension and pain — something I see all the time.
She’d already tried everything:
💊 muscle relaxants
💆♀️ massage
💥 chiropractic
🏋️♂️ traditional PT
But here’s the thing — in my experience, the issue is not primarily muscular. It’s neurological. The nervous system controls the muscles. When the nervous system is dysregulated, the muscles stay “on” — constantly guarding, tight, and reactive.
So instead of chasing muscles, I target the nervous system. Once that calms, the muscular system naturally relaxes.
Ask yourself:
“Why does my patient’s neck feel like they’ve been in an MVA… when they haven’t?”
For this particular patient, I had her order a grounding pillowcase on Amazon to sleep on (if you haven’t yet, watch The Earthing Movie on YouTube — it explains the science beautifully).
