Ayurveda: Intro, The Gunas, & Doshas
Hi everyone, It's been a long time since I've checked in with you all on here, but I hope you're all doing well! I have been slowly making progress on the Ayurveda course, which can be accessed by navigating to the "Classroom" tab of this Skool community. I thought about finishing the course in its entirety before making it visible, but I will just continue to write it chronologically and update you as more sections are ready for your review 😊 There are 3 sections of the Ayurveda that will be complete by the end of today: (1) Introduction and Background, (2) The Gunas, and (3) The Doshas. Additionally, I've created a section at the end titled "More Info (Podcasts, Articles, etc.)" with a growing list of links to other resources that I have learned from or that have been recommended to me. I'd love for this section to be collaborative - if you know of any good podcasts, books, or articles related to Ayurveda, please leave them in the comments here and I'll add them to the course!

Yoga Philosophy + Ayurveda Courses Coming Soon
Hey guys! Unless anyone is burning for an anatomy course, I'm focusing on the 2 other topics I had in mind for the next courses to publish: Intro to Yoga Philosophy, and Intro to Ayurveda. I've really only been studying yoga philosophy since September 2025 (about 6 months), but I love it, and I really enjoy the Dharma talks that my teachers give. One of the best ways to show appreciation for teachers is to listen, apply that knowledge, and *share* that knowledge. I am going to be more methodical about the publication of these next courses (i.e. I won't make pages visible until they are completed), so since there isn't currently a formal place you can view philosophy information and I want to share this but it's too long for an Instagram caption, here is just something that I wrote today after a class I went to with Julie Pasqual. I'd love to hear any of your thoughts and get some discussion going about this! In all of the ancient yogic texts, the asana (physical pose) practice is mentioned very little. For example, the Bhagavad Gita talks about 4 traditional paths of yoga: 1. Karma Yoga - the path of action and service; 2. Bhakti Yoga - the path of devotion;  3. Jnana Yoga - the path of knowledge; and  4. Raja or Ashtanga Yoga - the path of meditation. Of these 4 paths, the only path that alludes to asana practice is Ashtanga (Raja) Yoga. The reason for the limited discussion of asana is because yoga is not about exercising, but about the realization of the Self, the Atman, the Purusha, the shared consciousness within all organisms, which is deeper than and separate from both the body and the mind. Not even our personalities are what we truly are. That is not to say that our actions and the traits that we cultivate within our bodies and minds are not important. They are so important, actually, that there exists a “sister science” to yoga, which is called Ayurveda, which translates roughly to “the science of life,” and deals with taking care of our physical and mental selves in the material world.
Gratitude and Reflection
Thanks for your in-depth and structured course , I like learning the more cerebral aspect of yoga with the meaning and intention behind each pose explained. It makes me pay attention to my body and connect with myself more knowing that every movement and posture I find myself in through out the day can have an impact on my well being. On a more personal note, upon reading this course I realized I have a strong fear or aversion to the idea of doing arm balances or handstands , this has given me insight to maybe a deeper rooted sentiment within me , of needing to trust myself more and have faith in may ability to hold and support myself, even if in reality I consider myself an independent person, there is still a part of me who is scared or insecure but bringing this insight about myself to light has already helped me feel more receptive to trying.
Request for feedback re: Classroom
Hey guys! Our first course (Vinyasa Yoga Basics) in the "Classroom" portion of the Skool community is complete and available for you to read/look through at your leisure. Please let me know if you have any trouble accessing or navigating the course. Also, I would appreciate any feedback you might have regarding the course content, suggestions about sections or information you think you should be added, anything that you'd like more clarification on, etc. I value constructive criticism too, since more courses are coming and I want to continually improve them. I know that it will take some time to look through the course - if you decide to do so - so my main request for feedback is this: What course would you like me to write next? I have 3 main ideas: (1) Yoga Philosophy Basics, (2) Anatomy to Support Your Asana Practice, and (3) Ayurveda Basics. Please comment which of these topics catches your interest the most. Thank you!

Welcome to Yoga Basics (with India)! Please introduce yourself ☺️
Hello, and welcome to this Skool community: Vinyasa Yoga Basics. My name is India, and I'm the host of this community. I earned my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) certificate online from YogaRenew, a studio based in Hoboken, New Jersey, and I continue to study with them daily. They offer weekly Zoom classes for yoga teachers, which focus on topics including how to create and teach a meditation class, how to create and teach a vinyasa class, philosophy, anatomy, etc... I am also working on my 300-hour YTT. All of this to say that I am always learning more, and I'm eager to share that with you and support your learning, too. Please introduce yourself! You may respond to any of the following questions, or share whatever you'd like. I look forward to hearing from you! Possible discussion questions: Have you practiced yoga before? How often do you practice yoga? What styles of yoga have you practiced before? Which aspects of yoga are you most interested in (Physical poses, Yoga philosophy, Breathwork/Pranayama, Meditation)? What do you do for fun? Do you have any specific goals or intentions for your yoga practice?
