The phase of the moon directly reflects the state of our agni, or digestive fire. When the moon is waxing and becoming brighter, our agni is more supported. As the moon wanes and we lose its light, our agni diminishes. We can align our eating habits with the phases of the moon to improve digestion and nutrient absorption.
A woman’s menstrual cycle resembles the phases of the moon. During ovulation, like the full moon, digestion is strong; during menstruation, like the new moon, digestion wanes. If a woman’s menstrual cycle and moon cycle are not synced, there will be opposing energies, but she will want to align her eating with her own moon cycle.
