Returning to Venting
Hi everyone. Kirk Maynard here from Natural Bridges Puppets. I am returning to performing as a Ventriloquist after doing puppetry for many years. I'm still doing the puppetry but am putting together a 30-minute vent act with some of my characters. Amazing how I still have the talent and skills after all these years. Should be fun and an interesting addition to our current shows and services.
Ventriloquist Convention
I am so looking forward to celebrating 50 years at the Ventriloquist Convention. I have not been at a convention for almost 20 years. I am always working but this year I asked the theater for the week off and believe it or not he said yes. So I leave for the airport in a few minutes. I will send you all a report and pictures. Talk to you all soon.

Everyone travelling to the Venthaven conVENTion have a safe journey. I know you'll all have an amazing time. Gutted we can't be there. Probably be 4 years before we can make it back. Señor Wences and Felipe (his brother)
Hello everybody!! The other day when we were talking about Señor Wences, I shared part of his history in one of the comments, and I thought it would be cool to share it with all of you through a general post. Us, spanish ventriloquists already know Señor Wences' history but I guess it's unknown in other parts of the world. Señor Wences' parents were cabaret performers. Most people know Señor Wences but nobody knows his brother, Felipe. They both started as clowns. Back then, ventriloquism was popular in the US but in Spain nobody even knew what it was. Felipe was the first one who started doing vent. Before becoming a ventriloquist, he bacema very very interested in automatons. He was a big fan of automatons, and investigating more about puppets, he discovered ventriloquism. He was a young adult, and Wences was still a teenager. So Felipe started doing vent with characters that are just like the ones Wences used. He became a known ventriloquist and started touring with national circuses. Wences got interested in his brother's acts and learned from him and later joined him in his acts. That's when they found out that Felipe was better as the mastermind of the puppets and the acts, and Wences was better at engaging and entertaining the audience. So Felipe stopped performing to create the puppets and the scripts, and Wences was the one that performed everything his brother created. And after a few years, there came some really really hard times in Spain and that's when Wences decided to try and perform with those same acts in the US while Felipe decided to stay in Spain. Wences became a hit in the US and Felipe became the owner of one of the most famous puppet theaters of Madrid. In the 1980's their niece José Luis became a ventriloquist and became a star in the Spanish National Television. But after a few years, he got so rich that he decided to stop doing vent. A few years ago he said on social media that he wasn't interested in ventriloquism and he just did it because of fame and money. But his uncles Felipe and Señor Wences are legends, and spanish ventriloquists appreciate them and love them!!
