Red Queen 👑
The Tomb of the Red Queen at the Maya ruins of Palenque in Chiapas, Mexico, circa 650 AD to 700 AD. It was given this name due to the incredible amount of red cinnabar found inside the sarcophagus. Its location next to Pakal’s Temple of the Inscriptions, DNA testing, and the finery which she was wearing, tells us that she was Pakal’s wife and the Queen of Palenque. Although it is amazing to see this, I kinda feel that her remains should be brought back, placed inside, and sealed. This way she and Pakal (whose remains were also brought back to his tomb) can rest forever in peace, side by side, as was intended. Right now her remains are in the museum onsite.
