Note:
It is a good idea to first find out what a word translates to in the language of the rune you are using. For example, in Old Norwegian/Old Norse translation of the word 'hawk' in its dative form is hauki. (claw ON a hawk) This Runic translation is ᚺᚨᚢᚲᛁ. (Not ᚺᚨᚹᚲ. <-That is Elder Futhark runes for the modern English word hawk.)
The proper Old Norse translation for hawk in its singular nominative form is haukr. ᚺᚨᚢᚲᚱ. <--Elder Futhark. (A hawk is flying).
Maðr er moldar auki;
mikil er græip á hauki.
Man is an augmentation of the dust;
great is the claw of the hawk.
-Explaining the Meaning-
The First Line: A stark, gnomic reminder of mortality—man is simply extra soil or dust added back to the earth upon death.
The Second Line: A sharp shift to the natural world, noting the powerful grip (greip) of a hunting hawk.
'Det norske runediktet' is the name of (and translates to) 'The Norwegian Rune Poem' in modern Norwegian. Look this up for more about this verse and context!
So, in conclusion, just be careful which ones you use to be accurate in translating an old language to a Runic form. Examples of the various Runic poems can help to learn the language and can be found in the app!
