Notes from the 2026 TikTok LIVE Creator Network Summit--
Hello from Las Vegas! Phil Ranta here, currently in the lobby of the Caesars Forum. The 2026 TikTok LIVE Creator Network Summit just ended, where TikTok shared incredible information around what's working on the platform, what they're building, and how to best support creators. It was a social media nerd's DREAM! My top takeaways: - 'Battles' are still the #1 way to make money, and they don't have to be arguments! Even if you're just doing a 5-minute talent show or discussion about your favorite character in 'Real Housewives' or making macaroni and cheese, it works! We wrote a step-by-step tutorial on how to set up and execute a 'battle' here. - There is a HUGE focus on music this year, so if you're a DJ, play guitar, sing, freestyle rap, play the kazoo, or anything in between, give it a try! - On-screen aesthetic matters. Good lighting, medium-close up to close-up framing, fun colors or design in the background...it all helps with retention time! - The reason most streamers don't succeed is that they don't have a plan. Create regular times to go live, and do your best to stick to them! - There are four incentives that drive live streamers: money, fame, community, and striving for mastery. Knowing what drives you will help keep you motivated, and letting us know what's important to you will help define your roadmap to success. 2026 is going to be a great year! I look forward to working with all of you to grow on this exciting platform!
