Saturday shenanigans! What are you up to today?
I'm visiting Tewkesbury Abbey today to sing Christmas carols and songs at their Christmas Fair. Love being in a choir.
I only recently joined and wished I'd done it before.
I've always joined groups centred around fitness and being outdoors, so this is something different. And it has many benefits too:
Benefits of singing for mental health
  • Reduces stress and anxiety: Singing lowers the stress hormone cortisol and can help you calm down through deep breathing, which activates the body's relaxation response.
  • Boosts mood: It releases endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine, which are "happy hormones" that improve mood and create a sense of pleasure. You don't even have to be a great singer to experience this benefit.
  • Enhances social connection: Group singing, like in a choir, fosters a sense of community and belonging. Studies show that social connections are vital for health, and the social bonding in choirs can be particularly beneficial.
Have a great Saturday and let us know below what you're up to?
👀PS, I'll be popping a 20 minute Pilates video here tomorrow. 😍
