The Evil Robot "AI" Helped Me Better Explain This...
Hey Gang,
and I have been working on improving the next Movement Restoration Challenge. We are going through the slides w/AI & the Robot spit this out, I think it perfectly sums up what I have experienced personally the past 4 years & what other RBLD Collective Members experience as well.
Rule of RBLD:
Joints earn load.
Muscles express it.
This is a very simple yet effective way to describe what I see as the biggest difference between RBLD and many other forms of rehab/movement training/performance improvement.
The trouble with this is that when we focus on the idea "Joints earn load" is that is a much slower process than just building strength or flexibility. Why? Because tendons and ligaments take longer to build strength & resilience as they get less blood flow than muscles. Also in order to put them in a situation where they are forced to adapt it's usually at long range motions like the Deep Squats & Split Squats (see video).
As we age we tend to get into these positions less and less. Which then causes the joints to become less and less resilient as the support structure (tendons, ligaments, muscles) around the joint become weak and fragile.
Show me someone who has had a knee injury and all we have to do is look at the muscles around their knee to determine how stable their knee is and how confident they feel with it.
While this is a slower process it has huge payoffs in the long run. As the joint regains is capability the muscles around will become stronger and increase in size/density. This makes for a more resilient "bulletproof" joint and ultimately body.
Overall my goal with my own personal training/movement practice & for RBLD Collective Members is to build body that gets better over time, allows us to out perform our peers as we age & one that doesn't "grow old gracefully" but gives the middle finger to father time.
This statement: Joints earn load, Muscles express it is exactly how we go about doing this?
Let me know if I made sense here or if I need to refine this message more...
