Foraging abundance
So far, it has been a fantastic season for foraging. For me, it really took off with all the blackberries, and then the wild cherries were next, followed by all the mushrooms, and now the figs are coming in.
And it struck me the other day that most of the people that live around me have no idea that these foods are literally in the backyard. I just foraged over two pounds of chanterelles in the last three days, about 200 yards from my house. Same with all the berries and cherries. The figs are also nearby.
The point is, with a lot of this food growing wild, if I didn't pick it, it would just rot on the ground. So I'm encouraging people in my community to get out and try to find some local wild edibles, cuz there's perfectly clean and delicious foods all around us.
Go find some. What have you foraged that's delicious and edible?
