Write something
the journey -> the top
Here's something i wrote for myself last night (it's night for me rn) that I would like to share with others. I was watching a couple of videos and had that dopamine rush that I just felt like I needed to write. I actually can't believe I wrote it. Sorry for all the typos i hope it is understandable. https://youtu.be/O4oP3QAb0EQ?si=fVie5HmAR8JZov8l Donte get complacent - what can i already do? What did i work on that now iโ€™m good at? Those things i still have to keep practising or its no longer something i can do. e.g free throws - i got good at them because i practised every week. I scored one in a high pressure situation so I thought i was done- that I was good. Then, my performance dropped. I wasnโ€™t shooting them that well and i went from one of the reliable free throw shooters on the team to one of the worst on the team. Another example - my left hand layups. I spent so long working on finishing with my left hand because i always went right that now Iโ€™m mor comfortable going left and I got down on myself for not doing better on the right. Now I realise that I canโ€™t be mad atmyself for it if ther is a reason and in both of these cases it wss because i stopped putting the work in. i may be able to put in the work to do my weakness put i also need to uphold my strengths. https://youtu.be/K1QDYuHGa_I?si=mGueanfme3GwM3C5 - you gotta balance competence and confidence. You canโ€™t have belief too far ahead of competency because thats just fantasy but you also cant have your competency dragged down by self doubt. He also says โ€œthereโ€™s also a built beliefโ€ that built belief for me was yesterday. I may have missed a couple of long range shots which werenโ€™t my normal shots but I took them and and did with confidence and it felt good. The balance of that is that the belief that Iโ€™d get all my layups in probably shouldnโ€™t have been there because it hurt me a little. It hurt me to know that I missed that many but again, Iโ€™m not allowed to feel bad about that because I didnbt practise it. The other thing was tho that I knew my free throws were bad. So I practised the day before game day. I did and it felt good. And what happened? I shot about 50%. while that is still bad the ones that I made were the ones that I had a clear mind in. the ones that I even had an ounce of self doubt in my mind or said โ€œthat didnt feel goodโ€ in my mind were never going to go in in the first place.

Hahah what we think about this?
All the Time and Effort, but no results?
If you are putting in tons of time and tons of effort but not seeing the same results READ THISโ€ผ๏ธ #1 First and foremost you have to be consistent. If your just getting one long good workout in spontaneously your not gonna improve close to as much. Itโ€™s better to have a few short workouts throughout the week, but YOU HAVE TO BE CONSISTENT. Iโ€™m talking get outside or in the gym or wherever you do you workouts at least a few times throughout the week rain or shine. The small consistent workouts build up over time and improve you a lot and a player. I suggest a minimum of 3, 45+ minute workouts a week and that is the very bottom thatโ€™s the minimum. If your thinking thatโ€™s a lot of time and effort and you just are putting the minimum work in. If thatโ€™s you, donโ€™t ever think your gonna be the best. If your not putting more work in your just getting left behind. Your not gonna make it to the NBA by putting in the bare minimum you have to put your all in. Kobe would have 4, 2 hour basketball workouts everyday. Thats what separated him from all the other players he put more work in. The more work you put in the better youโ€™ll be if you apply the other steps also. Resultes arenโ€™t gonna just happen over one night. Itโ€™s going to happen over a few weeks, or months, of consistency. #2 PUT IN THE EFFORT. If you are being consistent putting the time in but not seeing results maybe you are being lazy. If you are putting the time in, but not trying your very hardest on every rep/workout your only cheating yourself from getting better. You need to put your best effort into every drill every rep. Even small stuff like walking to get a rebound or jogging to get your rebound could be the difference of you getting 200 shots up or 500 shots up in your 2 hour workout. THE GRIND IS REAL, donโ€™t be lazy, hustle hard, put the work in, donโ€™t cheat the system, see results. # 3 ADD VARIETY. This is probably the one most often forgotten. You can put the work in day in and day out. You can be doing two workouts in a day at max effort, but you start to plateau if you do the same workout every time. You could improve so much quicker if you just make the workout harder. Donโ€™t make your workouts harder till you master the basics first. For example: I do the same dribbling drills 4x a week, but after like a week or two the drills get so easy I donโ€™t have a hard time doing that dribbling drill. So what I do is after a workout gets easy is I switch it out for a harder one that I struggle to do, whether itโ€™s one ball or two balls I try to constantly make it harder. By constantly changing the dribbling drills I am constantly improving at a quicker pace. I keep my dribbling warm up the same but I change the workouts past that. Donโ€™t change the workouts till you master them though.
