Gestures to words
My 21-month-old prefers using gestures. She had over 20 words by 18 months, but her language progress has slowed since then. How can I help her turn gestures to words?
Prelinguistic Skills Section is Coming Monday 👀
Before words, there’s a whole set of pre-language skills your child needs. Things like: - back and forth interaction - shared attention - imitation - gestures - turn-taking These skills must be in place in order to make words possible later on. And if they’re missing or inconsistent, language can feel really hard. 🎥 What’s Being Released On Monday, the full Prelinguistic Skills section will be available inside the classroom. It includes: ✔ A 40-page handout breaking down each skill in a simple, clear way ✔ Step-by-step activity pages (both no-material and play-based) ✔ Videos showing exactly how to teach these skills in real interactions ✔ Guidance on what to do next once your child starts building these foundations 💡 Who This Is For This is especially helpful if your child: - isn’t talking yet - has a small vocabulary - isn’t imitating or pointing - struggles with back-and-forth interaction Or if you’re not sure where to start 🧠 Why This Matters A lot of people jump straight to teaching words. But communication doesn’t start with words. It starts with connection, interaction, and shared understanding. That’s what this section is built to support. ⬇️ Want Access? This will be available inside the classroom on Monday. If you’ve been waiting for a starting point, this is it.
NEW ADDITION TO THE CLASSROOM - Live Calls
I’m excited to share something new inside the classroom… Starting next month (May), I’ll be hosting monthly live calls for members 🤍 These calls will be a space to: – Ask questions – Get guidance on what to do next – Learn how to use strategies during your everyday routines To make sure I’m supporting you in the most helpful way, these calls will focus on parent coaching and general strategies (not individualized evaluation or therapy). My goal is to help you feel more confident and clear on how to support your child day-to-day. I’d love your input 👇What topics would you want covered on these calls? You can comment below! Ideas: – Building vocabulary – How to get your child to respond – Using specific routines to support language development (mealtime, bath, play) -- Imitation -- Teaching gestures – Expanding from words to phrases – AAC / signs – Something else? Let me know!
New Section in the Classroom!
Adding to the "Building Language in Everyday Routines' section. A play-based section showing you exactly how to play with your toddler (0-3 years) to support: ✔ language ✔ social skills ✔ thinking skills Broken down by age so you know what to do (and why it works). 👉 Join the classroom to get access 🤍
