Are you climbing the right ladder?
I remember meeting a musician friend of mine about 20 years ago. We met for lunch in a park in London and were talking about life/career etc.
At the time I had a successful financial services business in London, I had nice suits and shiny shoes!
I remember him saying how well I was doing and how jealous he was of my situation but all I could think of at the time was how lucky he was to be on the 'right' path, following his passion and expressing himself creatively.
At the time I said to him 'I would rather be on the bottom rung of the right ladder, rather than the top rung of the wrong one'.
I climbed many ladders until finding the right one aged 40. I knew the others were wrong because I felt it, I always had an inner voice telling me that there was something else out there for me. I just couldn't hear what it was because of all the other noise and doubt I was carrying around.
How do you feel about your path? Are you 'on-purpose' or are you climbing the wrong ladder?
