As we close out this year of The Leader Within, we were honored to have our school counselor, Spencer Towne, join us for our final session. Mr. Spencer has been more than just a guest—he has been a consistent presence, pouring into our young men throughout the year with wisdom, support, and real conversations that matter. As a licensed professional counselor who works daily with children, adolescents, and young adults, he brings real insight from walking alongside countless students through challenges, growth, and life transitions. Today, we tackled a powerful question: What does it truly mean to be a man and a leader? Our discussion challenged the young men to think deeper about character, responsibility, emotional strength, and the courage to grow. We talked about what makes a good man—not just in words, but in actions—and what it looks like to lead with integrity, humility, and purpose. The reminder that stood out most is simple, but powerful: You are a work in progress. You are capable. You are strong. You are worthy. I’m grateful for Mr. Spencer’s commitment to this group and for the impact he’s made—not just today, but throughout this journey. To these young men: you sacrificed time, you showed up, and you grew. This isn’t just the workplace… it’s schools too. Students, athletes, young leaders—carrying pressure to perform, fit in, succeed, and survive silently. Every team. Every classroom. Every environment. has people carrying a backpack you can’t see. Inside it may be: • Burnout from too much for too long • Stress from work, school, home, finances • Anxiety about expectations and performance • Personal struggles they’re hiding • Emotional weight they never healed from Sometimes it looks like: 🎭 masks hiding pain 🕊️ grief and loss 📱 comparison and distraction 🎮 escape just to get through 📚 pressure to figure life out fast The question is: 👉 Are you leading like it exists? 🎒 REAL LEADERSHIP STARTS HERE Before you ask others to unpack… you have to be willing to unpack first. THE LEADER WITHIN 🔥 Today was powerful. We had the privilege of hearing from Jamal Luke, and he didn’t just share his story… he challenged our mindset. From Beechcroft High School to walking on at Ohio State University football team, Jamal’s journey is proof that determination, discipline, and belief can take you places talent alone cannot. He didn’t wait for an opportunity… He created one. And became a National Champion. And today, he poured that same championship mindset into our group. 💭 What we learned today: Leaders set the temperature. Are you a thermometer reacting to everything around you… or a thermostat creating the environment? There is power in: ✔️ Your environment ✔️ What you see ✔️ What you say If you can see it, you can set it. Your decisions matter — both good and bad shape your future. Never give up on your dreams… even when the odds are against you. Don’t treat yourself casually. There is too much purpose on your life.
