BIG ANNOUNCEMENT
Some partnerships just make sense. After more than 14 years of coaching, consulting, and walking alongside independent filmmakers, I’m excited to officially announce that The Indie Coach team is joining forces with Filmmaking Stuff. This is a big moment. For years, I have considered Filmmaking Stuff to be one of the premier education platforms in the independent film space. The more I’ve gotten to know Tom and Jason, the more that belief has only grown stronger. In an industry full of coaches, gurus, programs, and promises, I can say this plainly: I believe Filmmaking Stuff is one of the strongest teams out there when it comes to helping independent filmmakers move from idea to execution. That is why I’m honored to partner with them. Together, our goal is simple: help more filmmakers stop waiting, start building, and actually get their movies made. You can read more about the announcement here: Meet Ron Newcomb - Filmmaking Stuff And to celebrate, we’re hosting a free live webinar tonight on film distribution and film finance. Because here’s the truth: We all have a story to tell. But passion alone is not enough. You need strategy. You need guidance. You need people who understand the path and can help you take the next step. So join us. Let’s get your movie made.
Stop Pitching Your Film Too Early
Talking to investors too early could actually make your film harder to fund. The industry tells filmmakers to start networking immediately. But conversations without leverage often lead to silence, rejection, and burned opportunities. So, when should you approach potential partners? The answer may be later than you think. Listen to learn what you need in place before making that call. https://www.podbean.com/eas/pb-y7dm4-1b0e72e Longer answer here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/stop-pitching-your-film-too-early-ron-newcomb-jidtc

Stop Pitching Your Film Too Early
Two new film books coming your way!
After 27 years producing independent films, and coaching dozens of filmmakers through the business side of the industry - I'm several weeks out from launching my first book. HOLLYWOOD OUTSIDER: The Step-by-Step Guide to Taking Your Movie from Idea to Screen is the roadmap I built from my own producing career. Concept validation. Packaging. Funding strategy. Distribution planning from day one, not an afterthought. Everything film school leaves out. I'm also launching a second book the same month: WE'RE ALL PITCHING SOMETHING, on the story, trust, and pressure behind every high-stakes conversation - drawn from my time in film, in the Marines, in law enforcement, and in coaching. If you're a producer, director, writer, or anyone trying to get a project funded and made, these are built for you. Sign up to be notified the moment they launch: https://ronnewcomb.com/#books #FilmProducer #HollywoodOutsider #IndieFilm #BookLaunch #Filmmaking #IndieFilmCoach

Stop asking for money before you remove the risk.
Most filmmakers have a script, a dream, maybe a deck… and then they wonder why investors don't jump in with them. Here’s the truth - Funding usually unlocks when risk goes down by creating leverage. So instead of starting with, “Can you fund my movie?” start with the highest-risk question in the project. Can we prove the audience wants this? Can we prove the concept works? Can we prove the team can execute? Can we prove there is a path to revenue, distribution, or meaningful traction? Every time you answer one of those questions with evidence, you create leverage. That leverage might be a teaser, proof-of-concept, audience test, presales, LOIs, attachments, partnerships, or early customer demand. The goal is not to magically convince someone to believe in you. The goal is to remove enough doubt that the opportunity becomes harder to ignore. Start at the riskiest point. De-risk it. Create leverage. Then use that leverage to unlock the next layer of funding. That is how you move from “I have an idea” to “I have momentum.” Need help? www.ronnewcomb.com - jump on a FREE 15-minute Discovery Call with our team!

Make your film - but not at all cost!
Filmmaking rewards bold vision, but it punishes sloppy leadership. As a former cop turned filmmaker, I’ve learned one rule matters more than almost anything else: Keep me & my team out of jail! Read the full article here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/make-your-film-all-cost-ron-newcomb-kdqae That means protect the money. Protect the crew. Get the paperwork right. Tell the truth. Respect the risk. A great movie is not worth your freedom, your reputation, or someone else’s safety. Here are top reasons producers get in trouble and how you can prevent this from happening to you and your team.
