Need Claude and computer advice

I was looking for Claude today while out, on my phone. Two questions

The app only gave me iPhone and iPad options. I have both of those devises and a couple of older laptops from about 6years ago. I wonder if I should get the iPad one? Or update my laptops?
Is it okay to get the Claude app, or is it better to just log into Claude.ai without an app?

I am just starting my voyage into AI. I do have a Geek Squad subscription at Best Buy and could get them to help me update everything.

I am not tech naive, just out of date. I appreciate any feedback.
