This is a quick human brain hack that helps you change your mood or mental state in under a minute.
What it does: It breaks you out of stress, anxiety, overthinking, or a bad mood by suddenly changing what one of your five senses is experiencing.
How to do it: Pick one sense and change it for 30–60 seconds:
  • Sight: Look out a window, stare at something colorful, or change rooms.
  • Sound: Turn on music, go to silence, or listen to nature sounds.
  • Smell: Smell coffee, peppermint, lemon, or step outside.
  • Touch: Hold something cold, squeeze a stress ball, or change your posture.
  • Taste: Eat a strong mint or take a sip of ice water.
That’s it. One quick change to one sense is often enough to reset your brain.
