Getting Over the Hump...
Happens one step at a time. Now that we've all done it... What does the rest of the week have in store? 🤔
Getting Over the Hump...
(What's) Good (in the neighborhood) Friday!(?)
Is today a holiday for you? Or just another Friday? Regardless of your religious affiliation or beliefs... The story of Yeshua and the Cross is powerful. Whether you believe it to be an actual factual account... Or a work of fiction... It can still be something to reflect on. Life as we know it is finite. Fleeting. There can be great suffering, loss, and sorrow. Power struggles and abuses. Fear. Pain. Love. Sacrifice. What you make of it all is up to you... What do you make of it?
A Case of the Mondays & the Monkeys
Monday, Monday, Monday. To some... It's the beginning of the week & time to get things done.💪 For others... It marks the end of the weekend & the dreaded back to work/school.🫠 Either way, there are usually monkeys. 🙈 🙉 🙊 Whether it be the Monkey Mind with distractions of FOMO, doubts, or just general blah, blah, blah... Or other people (friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, bosses, kids, etc.) coming at you nonstop with their wants, needs, gripes, drama, or whatnot... There always seems to be monkeys monkeying around.🐒 What is there to do? Tai Chi has a movement called "Repulse Monkey" or "Fending off Monkeys". They keep coming, but they roll right off as you redirect them in one direction or another. Then there is "Monkey Style", learn to use their tactics, lol. 😎 What is the biggest monkey on your back this week? 🤔 How are you fending it off? 🤷‍♂️

Get Slow! 🫠
Sometimes we just need to slow down. It helps us to be more aware, more present. We constantly hear "live in the moment" or "be more present", because for whatever reason we have a tendency to rush through life, almost as if we're trying to fast forward at times (until we end up trying to rewind). So slowing down in general allows us to "stop and smell the roses" so to speak. With Tai Chi specifically, some people tend to think of the end posture as the movement, but the movement is every single point along the way. It's hard to pay attention or notice each of those points at full speed. If you have 2 points on a graph and connect those dots, you could draw any kind of line in between. But with a 3rd point, you have a better idea of what the line is supposed to look like. And more so with a 4th point and so on. Just standing still (Wuji / Zhan Zhuang) really put a lot of things into perspective for me in regards to alignment and all of the things going on internally at a given time. Maybe if we move in slow motion, time might too... It could make for a good science experiment?! 😎

When things go "wrong"... Wisdom
Everyone usually wants everything to go "just right"... But wisdom comes more from things going "all wrong". There are lessons in the losses. Have you ever had something "bad" turn out to be "good"? ☯️
