I attended the webinar: Why Trauma Lives in the Body - and How to Get Out of Survival Mode with Gabor Maté yesterday, where he addressed:
- Why trauma can stay active long after the event
- How your reactions continue… even when things seem safe
- Why you can’t simply “move on”
- How disconnection from yourself shapes anxiety, tension, and shutdown
He shared two practical exercises to reconnect and begin creating inner safety, and as a token of my gratitude for this community, I wanted to share them with you!
Part 1
☀️ Where, if anywhere, is there tightness or numbness in my body?
☀️ If that tension or numbness could speak, what would it say?
☀️ If this tension or numbness were gone, what would be there instead?
Part 2
☀️ What emotion or feeling do I feel right now, and where do I feel them in my body?
☀️ What is the story behind that emotion or feeling?
☀️ Is this emotion or feeling, the story, in the now, or is it in the past?
☀️ What is the need that emotion or feeling expresses?
☀️ What happens if I let that emotion or feeling be and accept it?
☀️ What small actions of kindness and compassion can I give myself right now to make me feel safe?
Stay Blessed ☀️sisters
