The “Gain of Information” Problem Most Content Creators Don’t Realize They Have
Most people are creating content. Very few people are adding new information.
That difference determines whether your content grows your audience, builds authority, and brings in clients, or just floats around the internet doing nothing.
This applies to:
Substack
YouTube
Pinterest
Skool
Podcasts
Email...
All of it
The internet does not reward content anymore.
It rewards information gain.

If nothing changed for them, the content had no gain of information.
What Gain of Information Actually Looks Like
😒𝙲𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚒𝚗𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚖𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚐𝚊𝚒𝚗:
  • Quotes
  • Motivational posts
  • Generic tips
  • “5 ways to be more confident”
  • “Post consistently”
  • “Know your audience”
  • Reposting what everyone else already said
😁𝙲𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚒𝚗𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚖𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚐𝚊𝚒𝚗:
  • A framework
  • A step-by-step process
  • A mistake people are making
  • A system you use
  • A case study
  • A comparison
  • A strategy
  • A map
  • A checklist
  • A tutorial
  • A breakdown of how something actually works
  • Showing results or data
  • Showing your workflow
People follow creators who teach them how to see the world differently or do something better.

🔥Substack
Instead of: “Consistency is important”
Use: “How I turn one Substack post into 5 pieces of content and why this is the only way content compounds.”
Instead of: “Build your email list”
Use: “The 4 assets every Substack should have before you try to grow your subscribers.”
🔥YouTube
Instead of: “How to start a podcast”
Create: “The 4 biggest mistakes podcast guests make and how Substack fixes every one of them.”
Instead of: “Content marketing tips”
Create: “How one Substack article turns into a YouTube video, Pinterest pins, Skool posts, and email content.”
🔥Pinterest

📌Great Pinterest content:
  • Checklists
  • Frameworks
  • Step-by-step guides
  • Templates
  • Systems
  • Maps
  • Workflows
  • Content ideas
  • Examples
  • Before/after
  • Mistakes to avoid
  • Tools lists
Bad Pinterest content:
  • Quotes
  • Vague inspiration
  • Pretty images with no value
  • “Believe in yourself”
  • “Follow your dreams”
People save pins that teach or inspire them to do something.

Here is a simple way to create better content immediately.
👣Step 1 – Ask This Question Before Creating Content
Before you post anything, ask:
After someone reads/watches this, what will they know or be able to do that they couldn’t before?
MOST IMPORTANTLY - Google what you're thinking about first - look at how much content is around your topic - ask yourself if someone Googles this will they get what they need to know? If not, then proceed... This is especially important when it comes to the "how to" category
If the answer is nothing specific, the content needs more information gain.
👣Step 2 – Use These Content Types
If you are stuck on what to create, use these formats:
  • How to
  • Step by step
  • Mistakes to avoid
  • Checklist
  • Framework
  • System
  • Workflow
  • Case study
  • Before and after
  • Tools list
  • Map or diagram
  • Comparison
  • Strategy breakdown
  • Templates
  • Prompts
  • Scripts
  • Examples
  • Lessons learned
  • Things nobody tells you
  • Behind the scenes process
These almost always create information gain. (an easy tip is to go to Google or ai and see if you get the information you're fixing to share in the AI section - or if you've got something different to add.
👣Step 3 – Turn Your Experience Into Content
The most valuable content usually comes from:
  • Mistakes you made
  • Things that worked
  • Things that didn’t work
  • Systems you built
  • Workflows you use
  • Results you got
  • Conversations with clients
  • Patterns you see in your industry
Your experience is information gain for someone else. It's human to human - AI can not duplicate this - and we are moving away from AI because it's getting chaotic right now. We all need people (humans) we can trust. Creating content from that perspective makes all the difference
👣Step 4 – The Simple Content Formula
Use this formula when creating content:
You can teach this everywhere:
Problem → Mistake → Teach → Action
Example:
  • Coaches go on podcasts but get no clients.
  • The mistake is they don’t prepare a client journey.
  • The insight is the interview is not the marketing. The system after is.
  • Here are the 4 steps to fix that.
  • Result: interviews turn into leads and clients.
That is information gain content.

Most people think they are in the content business. They are not.
They are in the information and transformation business.
Content is just the delivery system.
When you start focusing on information gain instead of just posting, everything changes:
  • Your content improves
  • People save and share your content
  • You become an authority
  • Your audience grows
  • Clients start reaching out
  • Your content becomes assets instead of noise
This is true for Substack, YouTube, Pinterest, Skool, podcasts, all of it.
Create content that leaves people smarter, clearer, or more capable than before they found you.
That is how content turns into authority, audience, and income.
