It's a lovely Sunday here in southern Idaho today. The sun is shining but not hot and the sky is that lovely shade of blue that promises fall with those big puffy white clouds that beg investigating for images while lying on the grass. Yeah, that kind of day.
How's the day shaping up in your neck of the woods?

Been thinking a lot about AI lately. We even had a chat here about it yesterday - around names we have for our AI agents. There was one part of the conversation that had me seriously laughing out loud when
@Eli Norris and @Ali Davidson who both have ai's named Sam questioned whether Sam was stepping out on Eli - who says AI has no sense of humor?
There are so many ways to use AI beyond simply an expanded search engine and the more I explore the more I'm blown away.
Katya from Oracle Connection really helped me take what I'd gleaned from Evelyn Weis' community to a whole new level and then @Bo McCoy and @Janay Trevillion
expanded on that even further.
One thing I know about myself, though, is ... I like puzzles and I can easily get pulled into doing things because they are interesting but not actually what I need to focus on to further my over all mission.
And in keeping with the rule of ones this year - remember the rule of ones?
  • ✨One ideal client
  • ✨One core offer
  • ✨One conversion method
  • ✨For one year
If I’m using AI for my business, it needs to support one of those things.
It should help me understand my ideal client more deeply, strengthen my core offer, support my conversion method, or make it easier for me to consistently do the work that moves my mission forward.
If it doesn’t?
That doesn’t automatically mean I can’t explore it.
It just means I need to put it in the right silo.
I’m beginning to think of my AI use in two distinct categories:
AI for the mission
This is the focused work. It helps me create, communicate, connect, serve, or simplify something directly related to the business I’ve committed to building.
It has a defined purpose and a place in my way of operating.
AI for curiosity
This is play. It’s experimentation, discovery, and following an idea simply because it lights me up.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that - especially for those of us who are multi-passionate.
But play doesn’t automatically get promoted to a project.
That distinction matters.
Because curiosity can spark incredible ideas, but when every interesting idea becomes something we need to build, sell, teach, or add to our business, we end up scattered.
We don’t need to suppress our curiosity.
We simply need to stop confusing everything that fascinates us with something that belongs in our business.
So before I begin a new AI experiment, I’m asking:
Is this for the mission - or is this for fun?
If it’s for the mission, I define the result I want and how it fits into the work I’m already doing.
If it’s for fun, I let it be fun - without turning it into another offer, unfinished project, or new direction.
AI can help us do more.
But perhaps the real opportunity is using it to do more of what matters - not simply more of everything.
How are you deciding where AI fits into your work - and where it’s simply something you enjoy exploring?
