TRY THIS PROMPT ✍️
This poem began with a prompt from the last poetry session I attended with Keiron Higgins and Toria Garbutt.
TRY THIS PROMPT ✍️
“𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺”
Using the words:
“𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿”
Please see my example below :
𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗜’𝗠 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 🌧️☕
A reflection on memory, weather, connection and the quiet ways we carry things together.
“𝗦𝗵𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗼” is a Yorkshire expression meaning closed, and “𝗯𝗿𝗲𝘄” is a Northern English term for a cup of tea. Both are part of the everyday language and voice of where I’m from.
I’ve also been exploring how EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) tapping and poetry can work together.
EFT tapping in poetry blends rhythmic verse with acupressure point stimulation. Spoken-word rhythms, affirmations and mindful poems can be paired with tapping sequences to create a calming, embodied creative practice.
How poetry and tapping work together:
• Rhythm + flow: Spoken verse creates a natural cadence that can help regulate breathing and focus the mind.
• Emotional expression: Poems can put feelings into words, giving us a way to acknowledge what we’re carrying.
• Mindful repetition: Repeated lines can become comforting, melodic mantras.
