Hi Michelle and Community❤️
I'm Eva, from Portland, Oregon, USA. I'm a poet, musician and philosophizer. An observer of myself relating to how I observe my perceptions has been growth on a large scale throughout the awareness of my existence. I'm very visual, as well. My poetry usually begins with a comprehensive thought, the point, that presents as I've worked through hypotheses sorting confusion to match conclusions of Truth. Poetry is how I prove and validate the point further to myself in written form. It comes forth as a stream through my conduits with a pen or an instrument. I start writing what has popped in my head and it flows out until the circle is complete or the point sufficiently made! My visualizations are in my head and music is a very important basis of Truth for me. My time is quite limited as my husband is terminally ill and now on hospice, but looking forward to participating more fully as I can. Nice to be here and get to know you. Thank you🙏🏼

Hi Eva Savicki, it’s lovely to meet you and welcome to the community! I really enjoyed reading your introduction and hearing about how your poetry flows from your thoughts, observations and search for truth. I’m very visual too, so I really connect with that part of what you shared. I’m sending you strength and love during this difficult time, and please take all the time and space you need. I hope the community can be a little place of connection, creativity and respite for you when you need it. I think you’ll find that writing it all out can be really healing too. 🌿 Lovely to have you here. x Here is a butterfly video, as a little symbol of hope for you

@Eva Savicki Welcome x Lovely connect 🦋
A big warm welcome to our new members! 🌿
So lovely to have you here. This is a space to explore poetry, creativity, art, photography, film and ideas, and hopefully to feel inspired to make, write and share along the way. I’ve added a little video for you today, featuring one of my favourites: a relaxing cup of chamomile tea and one of my poems, Observer. Wishing you all a relaxing day. And here’s a little poetry prompt for you: Write down how your body is feeling today, and the conscious decisions you make to feel more at peace and able to move through the day with ease. Here’s mine below. @Norah Hamill @Elizabeth Radice @Frances Silva @Eva Savicki @Sharon Mason @Charlotte Romy Pamela Grotts @Max Gatehouse Enjoy! And get the brew on! ☕️✨

Absence
There is a building that was once a home Inside is his room Perfectly preserved like the paint that clings to the walls The jacket's on the hook The crumpled notes of paper remain on the desk The artist's toolkit is untouched by other hands There is no clock here And no expiration date for grief You could be forgiven for thinking his absence is temporary, like the sun's farewell at night The summer has gone Now the rain replaces the tears He has not gone He lives in the world unseen Where time has no meaning and love is undiminished

Wow, this is so powerful. The way you capture how grief holds us, and how the memory of someone can remain so vividly present, really moved me. The untouched artist’s toolkit and the pain within that image are so thought-provoking. And “the summer has gone” is such a beautiful metaphor. @Max Gatehouse

A Brilliant Resource for Writers: Mslexia
📰 One of my favourite resources for writers: Mslexia. If you’re a writer and you haven’t come across Mslexia yet, I highly recommend checking it out. It’s a brilliant magazine for women writers, packed with inspiration, writing advice, competitions, opportunities and calls for submissions. I’ve found it a really useful resource over the years, so I thought I’d share it here as part of our Competitions & Opportunities section. I’ll share opportunities I genuinely think are worth knowing about, whether that’s competitions, magazines looking for submissions, funding, publishing opportunities or other useful resources for writers. Definitely one to bookmark! 𝗠𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗱 — 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁, 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. Mslexia I’ve been lucky enough to be featured in Mslexia, where I chat about creating STEP INTO MY FLOW, my debut book of poetry exploring healing and manifestation. I also talk about my documentary @goodenoughdocu about @toria.garbutt, along with the awesome Faber & Faber poetry course run by Richard Scott and Rachael Allen. My poetry development was funded by the Arts Council, with invaluable support from Toria Garbutt. So, if you’re a writer, definitely have a look. You never know where an opportunity might lead. 💛✍️
