🌻 Creative Recipe of the Week: Sunflower Soul 🌻
Sometimes we don’t need to have everything figured out. Sometimes we just need to turn our face toward the light. Ingredients: 🌻 Yellow, orange, and green paint or markers 🌻 Sunflower images or floral elements 🌻 Scrapbook paper or magazine clippings 🌻 A black pen 🌻 Washi tape (optional) 🌻 White gel pen for highlights 🌻 One uplifting quote Directions: 1. Create a warm, sunny background using layers of yellow and soft green. 2. Add sunflower images, doodles, or floral elements. 3. Layer torn paper around the edges and throughout the page. 4. Write or hand-letter an uplifting quote in the center. 5. Add hearts, dots, swirls, or playful marks throughout the page. 6. Use white gel pen highlights to bring everything to life. Optional Reflection: What am I ready to let grow in my life right now? Example Quote: “I am becoming everything I was meant to be.” Creative Garnish: Add a pressed flower, tea-stained paper, old book pages, or handwritten words tucked between your layers for extra texture and meaning. You don’t have to bloom overnight. Just keep turning toward what nourishes you. 🌻✨ — Meka

Something I want you to know before we head into July...
You don't have to have it all figured out to start creating. You don't need the right supplies, the right mood, or the right amount of time. You just need a page and permission. This week, something new is dropping that I've been working on for a while — and I cannot wait for you to see it. Stay close! What's one thing you want to create this month? Drop it below. Let's set some intentions together.
Something I want you to know before we head into July...
DAY 19: What Makes You Feel Safe to Create?
One way I'm making my creative space safer is keeping it organized. Knowing where everything is within reach allows me to just flow.
Day 17:
“My small win today was showing up. I’m stacking it.” I have to share a literal stacking. I took a younger photo of me and cut and stacked a version of me today on top of it, I wanted to see what would happen. My first comment to myself: "And this is my uniqueness!" I tried to include video but it wouldn't upload.
Day 17:
Even hummingbirds stop to refuel.
If you’ve been feeling guilty for not creating lately, this is your reminder: Rest isn’t the opposite of creativity. It’s part of the creative process. Your imagination doesn’t disappear when you slow down. It restores itself. Some of the best art journal pages don’t begin with a burst of inspiration—they begin after you’ve taken a breath, had a good night’s sleep, stepped away from the pressure, or simply allowed yourself to be human. If you’ve been staring at a blank page lately, maybe you don’t need to push harder. Maybe you just need to refuel. So today, give yourself permission to: 🎨 Close the laptop. 🎨 Drink some water. 🎨 Step outside. 🎨 Take a nap. 🎨 Then come back to your journal when you’re ready. Your creativity will still be waiting for you. Because creating from overflow will always feel better than creating from exhaustion. Art Journal Prompt: “What helps me feel creatively refueled?” Spend 5 minutes answering that question with words, paint, collage, or doodles.
Even hummingbirds stop to refuel.
