💣 Bomb Recovery: Let’s Fix That Joke
[Constructive Feedback Thread] We’ve all been there...You thought the joke would hit. You believed in it. You stepped on stage… And then: silence. 😶 Welcome to Bomb Recovery—where jokes that didn’t land get a second chance. 🎤 Here’s what to do: 1. Post a joke, bit, or premise that bombed (on stage, online, in your head—doesn’t matter) 2. Give us a little context: Where did you try it? What was the setup? 3. Ask for help: Do you need new tags? A better angle? Shorter setup? 4. Be brave, not precious—this is how real comics grow. 💪 🛠️ What you'll get: - Friendly, punch-up-focused feedback - New directions to try the bit again - Solidarity from comics who’ve also eaten it on stage - A chance to turn a flop into fire 🔥 ✍️ Example: Joke: "I bought a weighted blanket for anxiety. Now I have anxiety and back problems. "Tried at: Small open mic, didn’t get a single laugh. Need help with: Is the setup too long? Is the angle too familiar? 💡 Remember: If you’re not bombing sometimes, you’re not pushing hard enough. Drop your bombed material below 👇Let’s fix it, punch it up, and help it rise from the ashes like a Phoenix with a punchline 🐣🔥

😬 Stage Fright? Let’s Talk About It 👀
[Tips for New Comics] Let’s keep it real—everyone gets stage fright. Even seasoned comics get the pre-show jitters sometimes. Nerves don’t mean you’re not cut out for stand-up... they mean you care. ❤️‍🔥 Here are some real-world tips to help you manage stage fright and actually enjoy getting on the mic: 🧘‍♂️ 1. Rehearse Out Loud (Not Just in Your Head) Your brain lies. You think you “know your set”—until you try saying it out loud and it comes out like alphabet soup. 💡Tip: Say it out loud in front of a mirror, record yourself, or deliver it to your cat. Anything is better than keeping it all in your head. 🪜 2. Focus on Your First Line Don’t try to remember everything—just focus on nailing your opener. Once you get your first laugh (or at least survive your first sentence), your brain will settle in. 🎭 3. Channel the Nerves Into Energy Nervous = energy. And energy is your friend on stage. Rather than trying to kill the butterflies, get them to fly in formation. Embrace the rush. Use it to fuel your delivery. 🧍‍♂️ 4. Ground Yourself Physically Plant your feet. Take a breath. Touch the mic stand. All those little anchors help you stay in your body instead of floating off into anxiety-land. 🤡 5. Bombing Won’t Kill You You’re going to bomb sometimes. Everyone does. It’s like getting your comedy passport stamped. Once you bomb and realize nothing bad actually happens, stage fright loses a lot of its power. 🎤 BONUS: Start Small You don’t have to start at a packed club. Try: - Open mics with chill crowds - Virtual mics (less intimidating) - Telling a joke at a party or Zoom call - Doing a set for 1–2 friends just to get the words out 🙋‍♂️ What Helped YOU? 👉 Drop your own tip below if you’ve ever battled stage fright. Or share your biggest fear when it comes to getting on stage—let’s help each other get braver. 💬 Remember: Stage fright means you’re on the edge of something cool. Get through it, and you’ll feel like a superhero afterward.

🎯 First Challenge: Build Your Opening Bit (Tight 1-Minute Setup)
[WRITING CHALLENGE #1] Welcome to the Stand-Up Starter Pack! Let’s get your first laughs on purpose. Your first challenge is simple but powerful: Write a 1-minute opening bit—your intro, your vibe, your “this is me” moment on stage. This is the first thing you’d say on the mic. Think: - A joke about your name or appearance - A quick funny observation about yourself or the audience - Something weird or unexpected that grabs attention - A short bit that sets your tone and POV (point of view) ✍️ How to participate: 1. Write 3–5 sentences max (~60 seconds of stage time). 2. Post it in the comments below. 3. Feel free to give feedback (with kindness!) to others who post. You don’t need to overthink it. Don’t try to be perfect—just be funny-ish. We’ll help you make it better. That’s the whole point. 🎤 🧠 Prompt Examples: - “So I look like the before photo in every gym commercial…” - “My name is Mike, which is ironic because I’ve never held one successfully until now.” - “I didn’t grow up in a strict household. My mom was more of a ‘you do you’ type... which explains a lot, right?” 🔥 Bonus: If you're feeling bold, record a video of your bit and drop it below. No pressure, just good practice! This is the start of your set. This is the start of your momentum. Let’s punch it up together. 💥 Drop your 1-minute bit below! ⬇️
