We are in the Arena
During today's VIPer's Language Portal coaching call, I was reminded of Theodore Roosevelt's speech "Citizenship in a Republic," more commonly known as "The Man in the Arena." May you realize that every setback, moments when you stall in your writing, or voice from your Cast of Characters who lacks kindness, is a reminder that YOU are in the arena. Breathe and keep going. 💜💜💜
Frequency Friday - Tapping into Truth
Everything changes the moment you stop writing for approval and start writing your truth. No one has your lived experience, talents, gifts, or perspective. Looking outward for love, validation, acceptance, or approval diminishes the very thing you are here to express. I sought other people’s opinions long before I knew what mine were. Once I realized this was a subconscious habit seeking safety, it became clear that I was outsourcing my power. That realization made all the difference. My need for safety was an outdated program in my internal operating system. It takes reflection, journaling, and the power of deciding for yourself that the only approval you need is within you. It is a co-creation between you and your higher power. What would change in your writing if you stopped waiting for permission?

Our Cast of Characters
Every writer has a cast of characters that shows up uninvited. You sit down to write, and one of them has already pulled up a chair to greet you and sneak in at the most inappropriate moment. The inner critic questions your right to speak. The perfectionist insists it isn't ready. The doubter worries that no one will care. The analyst wants evidence before a single word is written. The procrastinator suggests maybe later. The dreamer floats somewhere lofty and stays in the clouds. These characters are not your enemy. They are part of what makes you human. And every one of them has a shadow side and a superpower. The Inner Critic asks, "Who do you think you are?" Its superpower is the truth teller. Let me tell the truth about this. The perfectionist strives to make every word flawless. The higher vision is the quality keeper. I want this to be finished to the best of my ability. The doubter believes no one will care. Beneath the doubt lives the clarity seeker. What is it I actually want to say? The analyst wants all the evidence. Its superpower is the reality checker. Is this true? Accurate? Measurable? The procrastinator shrugs and says, “Maybe later.” This is the part that is most in tune with frequency. It’s the energy saver. Perhaps I need to step away and clear my head first. The dreamer stays in the fantasy of "this is going to be amazing." The vision holder arrives with certainty. This is what I am here to create. Underneath all of them is your inner guide encouraging you. “Breathe. Listen. Write one thing you know to be true.” That is the voice of your intuition, your internal wisdom, and it is the one who has been waiting the longest. Writing is not simply an act of creation. It is an act of courage. When courage leads, creativity follows, and then confidence. Which of these characters shows up most reliably for you? P.S. One of things I love about teaching is learning and expanding the content. During Saturday's Authority in Authorship both @Vicki Dunn and @Ryan Clark added insight into the Analyst and Ryan brought attention to one of my blindspots the student / life learner. I'll be integrated into the next cohort!
