My memoir, Anything But Ordinary, is coming together, and the first draft is getting close to being finished.
Neil, my first reader, has been reading the French Foreign Legion section. His feedback was really positive.
Seven months ago, I wasn’t even sure I had any business writing a book. I had the stories, but putting them on paper for other people to read? That was a different matter.
Now, writing has become my new normal. I sit down, get the words out and keep moving the book forward. Some days they come easily. Other days, it’s a fucking struggle. But I keep showing up.
That’s the lesson I wanted to share here: you can start something while you’re still questioning whether you’re capable of it. Confidence can grow out of doing the work.
It’s the same with training. Something that feels unfamiliar or beyond you today can become a regular part of your life through repetition. You give yourself evidence that you can do it.
Finishing the memoir will be a big moment, but I intend to keep writing every day afterwards. I’ve built a habit I want to keep. There are more stories to tell.
What’s something you once doubted you could do that has now become part of your normal life?
