Trying to find my sewing mojo, it has been lost for a while! Health issues. Moved machine to dining room table, from studio. Air Conditioning died in studio, it is a necessity in Bradenton Florida.
Love sewing and designing
I am so excited to be part of this community. I started home sewing at about age 6 when my grandma taught me and now at age 63 I’m finally following my lifelong dream of going to fashion design school. I have created several patterns and I am really enjoying the process. I am also learning how to upcycle Thrifted clothes and I am having a lot of fun with that.
Starting again
Back in college I made most of my clothes then stopped doing it while raising a family and working full time. Since I’m only 5’ tall, I have to alter almost all my clothes and recently had a “duh” moment when I realized I’d be better off going back to sewing my clothes right from the beginning.

'OLD' fogy seamstress! 😉
Hi! I'm called 'patkeymouse'! , and YES! Sing it to the Mickey Mouse Club theme music. (telling my age here! HA! HA!). I LOVE to s e w. Made doll clothes from a very young age. Made my first ME piece of clothing at age 10, on my Grandmother's treadle sewing machine....BOY have we come a LONG way?! It was a Navy blue print, cotton shift. I put the zipper in crooked and she told me to take it out. Stubborn me refused! BUT, I DID learn to understand that correcting my mistakes shows the difference between home-made and hand-made. She later told me that I had became a much better sewer than she ever was. BUT, something I was ALWAYS envious of was SHE could lay another garment out and cut a pattern by it. I've always thought I needed that 'crutch' (being a pattern). Hope I can learn to do that here. Wish me LUCK!
