The deflector
I've just watched week 1 and discovered my default pattern is the deflector and it shows up most whenever someone tries to get to know me more as a person and asks me a personal question, like what do you do in your free time or what do you enjoy. I wasn't even aware of this before watching module 1. I almost always use humour to dodge the question or give a vague answer. I think I do this because deep down I'm afraid of being judged and would rather have surface-level connections than allow myself to be vulnerable. Going forward I will do the homework for week 1 and notice when the pattern is triggered and what it leads to, while also remembering to focus my attention outwards when it starts to go inwards. Look forward to learning more when I unlock week 2.💯
Introduction
Hello im Ayman I’m 22 and trying to get my life back in control after a cancer diagnosis at 17. The hardest part that gets neglected is the recovery after the initial treatment. I’ve been listening to the podcasts and trying to better my health despite the setbacks but I feel like my life is at a pause currently due to the fact of how abruptly it happened and having to drop out of school. I’m kind of just playing the cards Allah has dealt me currently.
Day 3
Missed a day yesterday but I’ll still share Yesterday was my first day cold calling Honestly I sucked - I got harsh feedback from my manager on my calls he told me to write down everything I learned at my old job on a piece of paper and bin it but it’s necessary for me to improve - Felt knocked after that and super embarrassed to make more calls - Didn’t hit my dial target that day - Was at the bottom of the leaderboard - Got outperformed by two new starters who had way more cold calling experience than me This experience made me really negative it took me a few hours to calm down Looking to try forget this experience and reset on Monday
Day 1
Today was a mixed bag Definitely felt more confident Some wins - asked questions when I felt scared - Introduced myself to two new people - Had a conversation with my colleges on the train Some losses - quiet in group settings - Feel anxious around managers - Feel pressure to make manager like me Feeling pressure around managers is something I have Always struggled with Caring too much what others think is also triggering me Let me know any thoughts for reducing pressure around manager and getting managers to like you.
