This year one of my goals was learn more jam skating moves to do at the rink on open sessions. I usually do artistic which i find hard to translate into jam. Yesterday something clicked and I took the little I knew (crossovers, edge work, single leg stuff) and got a great session in. It also helped they were playing a lot of some old school favorites (ex. Earth wind and fire) so I felt comfortable cutting loose. I wish I could've had someone record it so I could look back on it.
If anyone needs some inspo here are some moves I did using the foundational skills mentioned above
- Crossover, step out, cross over, step out, and single leg "surfing" on the curve (surfing- imagine bringing one leg up so your making a 4 and coasting on the skating leg)
- (Variation of 1) Stomp and step out
- Front to back transition, back to front transition, front to back transition, kick out left heel, kick out right heel, continue til I slow down enough I want to go back to forward
- Kick left leg, Kick right leg, repeat
I feel like I did more but I can't think of any additional right now.
Best of luck yall. Stay groovy 👌
