Hexis for the win
Long story short: 2015 was training to compete in RAAM. Nov 2015 my body decided it hated me 2020 I was 315 pounds, about to go on disability (the dole) and nearly dead Quarantine was a godsend for me. I got on meds that helped and I could just rest and start rehab. EOY 2020 I was 265 thanks to intermittent fasting and the ability to walk or ride an e bike. 2021-2025 I bounced up and down in weight. Got as low as 225 thanks to reading and the gym but would just bounce up and down. Jan 5, started Hexis. Today, I'm down 5 pounds and 1% bodyfat, to my lowest weight in 15 years. I can only surmise that it's healing my metabolism after years of calorie restriction. I don't know how else to explain it. I cannot believe I'm under 100kg.
FatMax training
Fat max ride on the calendar this week. The description recommends being careful to avoid Z3, and stay in high Z2 for the fat max intervals. I thought that gas exchange studies show that the maximum fat oxidation rate is low Z3 for most people. Is that correct? Are you just concerned about the extra fatigue with Z3? Maybe the rationale is to have the legs a little fresher to push the next VO2 session? Maybe we hit the slightly higher zone in the block where we are focused on it? I’m not implying anything is wrong, just curious.
Trust the Process
Folks here's some real world results that Ive personally experienced from "Trusting the Process". Let have some context for the below. Year on year, you see the increase in my FTP (Functional Threshold Power) from following structured training plans. You'll also see progress from training block to training block You'll notice 2023 and 2024 are missing results from some of the training blocks. In 2023, I got sick and had issue which my lungs and heart. It basically destroyed my season. Eventually I got going again mid summer of that year. Then I managed to herniate discs in my lower back, trying to get back to racing by not following the plan and going over the top with training load and intensity. The back injury lingered through the winter and into the 2024 season so I didn't really gect to has a good winter of training prior the season hence the missing data for 2024. Any questions, please ask?
