A different type of OOTD
Three years ago seventh degree blackbelt Grand Master David Beaven was asked to help promote the yearly book study that Dr Rev Crawford does each fall as a month long sermon series. His sermons follow that book during the month of October. That years’s book was CS Lewis’s Screwtape letters. If not familiar with the book it was originally published as a weekly series in an Anglican magazine called the Guardian in 1942 in the UK. Its premise is a series of letters from a senior demon named Screwtape written to his nephew demon Wormwood in which the sr demon acts as Wormwoods mentor in how to tempt his “patient” a human. Rev Crawford wanted to illustrate the internal struggle of temptation each person faces. So Grand Master Beaven performed a Tae Kwon Do form that has 63 movements. Once finished a “demon slipped up on him and Grand Master Beaven used movements from that form he had just demonstrated to protect himself. Then each combatant grabbed Escrima sticks and did a combination of Escrima (Indonesian Martial Art) forms while GrandMaster Beaven defended himself. Finally using real martial arts grade light sabers Grand Master Beaven defeated the demon with choreographed techniques that incorporated 4 Koryo Gumdo (Korean Sword fighting) forms. The books were completely sold out between the 2nd and 3rd service. (Usually takes weeks)
OOTD
The white outfit in Korean is known a dobok (same as Japanese Gi). The black outfit is also a dobok specifically for Koryo Gumdo.
When the demon removed his mask. Dr. Crawford said Brian McGuire was very appropriately type cast😳
